I've viewed with relish the hysterics and puffed up hyperbole from Schumer and Pelosi concerning the tax cuts.  Its going to be Armageddon -- the Apocalypse -- dogs and cats living together.

In my former career concerning audit of operations and fraud, I interviewed many people.  Over the decades, I learned to recognize the liars and incompetents. The incompetents cause more serious damage than lying fraudster.  Chuckie and Nancy's performances rival those of the most thieving and incompetent I've ever encountered.  Sheer panic that the Republicans will succeed.

That would be great news, if so.  The tax laws passed under Harding/Coolidge resulted in the largest economic expansion in the 20th century.  That would be just the thing to bring us out of the worst recovery in over 100 years.  Lenin and Mussolini would be pleased with the old tax laws.  Communist believe everything is the property of the state. Fascists believe that allowing people to make their own decisions is a violation of state management of the economy.

Of course, the economic expansion didn't cause the Great Depression, even left wing economists recognize that. Left wing politicians, not so much.  The Depression had several causes -- borrowing from banks to buy stocks that were spiraling upwards, with no real cause for the increase in value.  Stocks were used as collateral for the loans.  Those practices are now illegal.  Plus, other sa***uards are in place.  Some regulation is necessary, just not a mountain of such.

The new Republican tax laws remarkably resemble the Republican tax laws of 1929. Some of the wording is even exact. We all know what followed those tax cuts. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Here we go again.

As Alan Greenspan would say, "Irrational exuberance" caused the recession of 1929. It was the progressive policies of Hoover (and FDR) and the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve that created the Great Depression and kept it going until Tojo and Schicklgruber ended it.

I know it's hard for Republicans to admit their failures. Reagan made big tax cuts, too. Reagan raised taxes in subsequent years, because the growth expected never came about. Republicans just love their 'trickle down economics'. It gets them huge contributions from their corporate donors. Even the Congressional Republicans have admitted, this tax break is their way of 'cashing out'. Their exact words. "CASHING OUT". Let that sink in, for a minute.

Per Obama's OMB, in constant 2005, dollars, the Reagan tax revenue increased $2.94 trillion more, than the previous 8 years.

Yes, Reagan did raise some taxes, revenue taken was not large by government standards.

"Let's start by noting that if you recall Reagan as tax cutter, your memory is good. Reagan campaigned in 1980 on reducing taxes. During his administration, the top income tax rate decreased from 70 percent in 1981 to 28 percent in 1986. But to combat a rising deficit and debt burden, Reagan also approved increased taxes. In 1982, The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act raised taxes by $37.5 billion per year, and the Highway Revenue Act raised the gasoline tax by $3.3 billion. In 1983, Reagan signed off on legislation to raise payroll taxes and tax Social Security benefits for some higher earners. In 1984, the Deficit Reduction Act included increases in taxes on estates and distilled spirits and ended some business tax breaks, to the tune of $18 billion per year. In 1985, Reagan signed legislation making permanent a 16-cent federal excise tax on a pack of cigarettes, then worth about $2.4 billion a year. In 1986, the Tax Reform Act lowered the top income tax bracket from 50 percent to 28 percent. To pay for the reductions, however, the legislation closed a number of tax loopholes. In 1987, Reagan signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act that extended the telephone excise tax and eliminated a real estate tax deduction loophole."

Reagan's economic growth was quite good.  Especially, when one considers that Carter sent the US into recession in 1980 and we experienced stagflation thru the last two administrations.  Average GDP growth during Reagan's administration was 3.5 percent.

I'll let you two smack on this for a while. Reagan would be considered a RINO, in these forums. Forum Republicans would trash Reagan on his policies, today.

Wake up ****head, you're having that high humidity dream again....

Facts and reality give Demmies fever dreams like a tropical disease.  I see Trump's cutting State and has his aim on other departments.  Plus, he's planning on sending a lot of the EPA and Interior bureaucrats out of DC to where the results of the decisions they make are felt.  Some employees will refuse relocation and be separated.  Others will relocate and receive an education.  Either way the swamp is drained.  Once a federal employee space goes vacant, nothing requires most to the spaces to be filled.
