Even notice the Substitutions that the secular world uses instead of and to diminish Christian and religious celebrations.  I know the talk and discussion about Christmas and pagan origins and pagan rituals but the substitution I am thinking of is how we have profaned Christmas with commercialization and Santa Clause.  I'm not trying to play Grinch here and condemn Santa but just staying that so often the reason we have CHRISTmas is so often neglected and ignored for the much more publicized Santa Clause and what gifts are we going to by and get?  One main reason I don't like Santa Clause and Christmas is we are selling a bill of goods to our kids telling them this is real, believe in this, all knowing that we are lying to them and setting them up for knowing they are going to realize, at some point in the future, that Santa is a fabrication and someone we injected into Christmas to get them to be good so they can get their gifts.

I don't like it because then we are going to tell me about Christ also and about the GIFT of eternal life and Salvation.  What is to prevent them from wondering if we aren't fabricating another fictional person to get them to be good?  Be Holy, by Like Christ?   I just think that sometimes we make things difficult on ourselves and create problems that might not be there otherwise.  So we substitute Santa for Christ so often at Christmas, the gifts of material things for the gift of Spiritual life.

Then at Easter we substitute the Easter Bunny and hide our eggs on a Holiday with even greater Spiritual significance and that being the last substitution ... a good and great substitution.

Christ died on the Cross as a substitution for our penalty for our sins and sinfulness.  Christ was substituted for US and to me that's the greatest and positive substitution.  Just a thought.

I'm not wanting to start an argument but if what you say is true, why
would Baptism be mandatory? I remember something was said about
this some years ago but I also remember some raised voices.
