.....-and then do unto anybody else who happens to be nearby.

LMAO!  All they need now are snakes and strychnine.

The deacon  even stabbed the newly-unemployed "music minister's" mother in the melee for some reason I'm unable to figure out other than just being a hill-scoggin with no self-control and a knife.. ...

If you have to bring a knife to church-You're doing it wrong.

Way to witness, morons....

The truth scalds them. Upside had to make a thread about jeffs (mormon), but you will never see a thread from him or bill about the church of christ or baptist child molesters and rapists. Plenty of threads and discussion about the catholics too, but again, not one peep about the "home team".

There are plenty of cases about the COC and others, but not together in one place like these. Of course a simple google will let anyone "interested in the truth" as bettern-nun posted find all they could ever want.

If it requires a google search, Jennifer, rather than you being able to rattle off instances from memory, it's rare.   Even if someone could rattle off a few instances, they'd likely be from all over the world.  It would take a stretch of the imagination to consider tasing and stabbing in church the norm.

Rare? Oh it's far from rare.

The police had to break up a fight at the Greater New Zion Baptist Church in Fletcher, North Carolina. If you ever thought your church or temple council meetings were boring, this is probably not the kind of thing to do to liven them up.

The brawling was so bad, they had to call in 30 officers from five different local agencies to break up the fights Sunday evening, according to FOX Carolina. Authorities say the brawl was a dispute over leadership.

"Anyone interested in the truth" would agree that it is rare and not the norm, Jennifer.  Would statistics prove your claim that it is not a rare occurrence in churches or would they prove mine that it is a rare occurrence in churches?  What percentage of churches have experienced acts of violence like this and how often even in those churches?  One time event in those churches or the norm in those churches?

The "interested in the truth" post is about sexual misconduct in the different denominations. You're mixing two different subjects. However fights and sexual misconduct in churches around the country and the world are not rare events.

Ooh! "Snap judgement?"

Heh. Joy.

You have no idea whatsoever about my character.

I don't hold all christians to that standard, but they ARE a majority.

I just found it comical that here in Alabama, the self-proclaimed "buckle of the bible belt" that the oh-so-proper god-fearing thumpers would resort to a melee in church.

Like I said before-If you gotta bring a weapon to church, you're doing it wrong.

At that point I'd be taking a good, long, hard look at exactly WHY I was going there.

Sure, the person who got fired was a chooch for tasing the minister, but the deacon who apparently for no good reason stabbed Simone's MOTHER? Wottahell was THAT all about?

I'm tellin' ya, it's like yellin' "Yer mama" on the CB at a truck stop and stepping back and watching the goobs lose their cottonpickin' minds. Chaos ensues.  Wish I coulda been a fly on the wall.

Sounds to me like pack mentality with serious emphasis on the MENTAL part.

Reading stuff like that makes me believe that a lotta christians really NEED religion just to help them maintain some semblance of self-control.

No reason to "change the subject". My post that included the phrase "anyone interested" was about sex abuse by different church members. RP said he'd had no comments on his post so in his opinion they won't face the truth. I gave an example of another area where they won't face the truth. The other subject I addressed was about the church fighting. Two different subjects BUT on both I stated that they aren't rare. So to clear up any doubt-on the subject of the thread-not rare at all. On the subject of sexual misconduct by church members-not rare at all.

Considering that the reason for the fight which occurred AFTER church was:

Deputies say things started when Moore, who worked as the church's minister of music was handed his last paycheck and told by Riley that his services were no longer needed. Investigators say that's when Moore tased the pastor.

I would say he pitched a fit because he lost his job which just HAPPENED to be with a church.

Religion had nothing to do with it.

I did say a glimpse and you did freely offer it with your blanket statements.  If you had included the first sentence above, I wouldn't have said anything.

I won't disagree with you on the latter either...however, there are a lotta people of belief and non-belief who could use something to help them with self-control.  If religion will help them with that, I hope they get religious today.

Religion has become an ugly word to many Christians.  We feel religiosity is killing what God intended, much like it did before Christ came.

You didn't answer the question, Jennifer.

So do you agree that acts of violence are not the norm in churches?

If you still hold that they are the norm, I would be interested in your proof...unless of course you are basing that conclusion on your faith that it is true, devoid of fact?

Oh, b...

But don'tcha see? It DOES have everything to do with it.  Just mebbe not the way you're thinking it does.

I look at it this way-Here's all these righteous, proper, churchgoing, bible-thumping self-proclaimed, phony "pillars of morality" telling ME, the godless heathen that I must be evil or depraved or immoral and that because I don't have "the holy spirit" or god's moral guidance and that because I don't go to church that I'm inherently bad.

Well....That article up there kinda throws THAT particular kinda thinkin' right out the window now, dunnit? Fighting in a CHURCH of all places. Ya know? "God's house."  I suppose they're only reverent in god's house when it suits them, eh?

Thumpers seem to think that just because they believe in a "higher power" that they're somehow more "special" than those who don't. (Actually they also tend to believe that they're more special than other believers of different flavors, too)

Shouldn't they then be held to a higher standard?  From what I can see-THEY seem to think that way.  Just because they have this "special gift", they seem to think that they're somehow better than non- believers.

Bulls#*t.  We all bleed the same color.  The belief in the sky-fairy does not make one "special."

To think so is extremely arrogant.

"I've never been busted for fighting in church."

RP, you clearly don't know what Christians think.  You are basing this on insane fundies who make the paper or post on forums.  People who say or think they are above another are disobeying God.  He tells us to love others as we love ourselves and to not think yourself greater than another or above another.

Rather than making blanket statements and assuming every person who claims to be a Christian is just alike, why don't you ask us what we think?

Joy, are you saying you love the buffalo as much as yourself?……..or are there exceptions to the Bible teachings as one’s temper might allow for. Surely you don’t expect credibility as a “Christian” when you have led a nasty mob made of atheistic blasphemers of God against that most gentle soul Buffalo.

I think you yourself have much soul searching to do before you jump on rp in front of me.

Oh, b...

But don'tcha see? It DOES have everything to do with it.  Just mebbe not the way you're thinking it does.

No it doesn't.  What has happened is that atheists have put religious folks on a pedestal themselves. "YOU" have decided that religious folks cannot behave the way any one else does. "YOU" have decided to judge the religious folks by standards that no one kept except Jesus.

Had this guy attacked a day care worker because he lost his job, would that make all daycare centers evil? How about all those folks 'going postal'? In this lousy economy, the guy just lost his job, lost his temper, and lost his freedom.

In this instance, the 'church' was not involved. It was an employee being fired by an employer.

But don't let that stop all the 'religious hatin'.

Shut up buff.  I read all the crap at your forum. Your language is disgusting.

Don't hijack another thread for your personal vendetta.
