Trump accepts Kim's word about Otto Warmbier
No one is perfect and although I have supported Trump in other areas and decisions he has made I believe he made a huge mistake by making the, very public, statement that he accepts Kim's word about not having anything to do or knowing about Otto Warmbier's death or treatment. While there is an outside small possibility that Kim didn't have any direct involvement with the actual events that caused his death there is no doubt if Kim had wanted Otto protected that he would still be alive today. The torture that the kid had to endure no doubt was known to Kim and I doubt there is much of anything that Kim is not aware of as happening in his Country.
True there are some things that he doesn't know and maybe the exact treatment of Otto Warmbier may have been one. If so then Kim still is not innocent in this because he did not prevent the torture and treatment of this American citizen. Kim may not have been involved in the direct torture but he is complicit in that he could have prevented it by making sure that he was not tortured. I fully believe Trump was wrong in absolving Kim of any blame.
IF Kim was truly sorry he could have made some kind of reparations to the Warmbiers although nothing would ever bring back their son and nothing was about to be done by the North Korean government to pay for their actions with regards to this American citizen that was murdered at their hands and under their treatment. Trump has done a lot that I agree with and support him on but I cannot support him in this statement. He may have had a motive in doing so and it may have been some kind of gamble for achieving some future results but I think it was a mistake to do. Is it an impeachable mistake? Only in some Democrat's and Liberals minds but a mistake I believe it was, and I believe one of his Administrations few failures.
There are some who believe Trump cannot do any wrong and there are far more that believe he cannot do anything right. There are some that never give him any credit and even if he, single handedly, cured cancer they would criticize him for putting several doctors out of work. The bias against Trump wasn't always there, though, but most became apparent when he chose to go down that escalator and declare as a candidate for President under the Republican name. Before that Trump was never a racist and wasn't some horrible guy. That's the way a lot of people are and look at things. They see only what the Democratic Party tells them to see. And yes there are Republicans who are the same way only they see what the Republican Party tells them to see.
When it comes to politics, sadly, many (even politicians) would rather see the failure of the Country if it meant that it would be seen as a negative for those in the opposite party and a loss for the opposite party. Their allegiance seems to be for party first then nation second. That isn't the way it should be. Republican or Democrat they should be for what's best for the county. No better example is there than the border controversy in that years ago Democrats were for a Wall and for beefing the border up but just because Trump has it as a prime issue now they are totally against it. Some things need to change but I have doubts that they ever will.
