I’ve never heard anything come out of this woman’s mouth that has made any sense. But if she’s a Christian, then I will be sitting on the right hand of God come judgment day.

“Margaret Cho has been known to vehemently defend herself as a Christian, though many say that she does not fit the bill. To prove herself she has stated that she grew up in the church, taught Sunday school to children, and that her grandfather was even a minister.

She may be able to fool some, but to those who actually believe in the preaching’s of the Bible, she isn’t fooling anyone”.

People have a lot of different replies when it comes to describing themselves as "Christian".  Many talk about what good they have done or how many times they have been in Church and how they were always there when the doors was open.  Not that your specific topic was what makes you think your a Christian but I kind of got the impression that those, like Margaret, often allude to things they have done as if what acts or deeds were indications of who is and who isn't a Christian or that their whole family are Christians as if somehow it's inherited or passed on through the genes.

If I'm ask why I'm a Christian or why I believe I'm a Christian my answer is a bit simpler.  I say because I believe Christ died for my sins and His blood covered my sins.

The word Christian is not in the bible. We are called believers in the bible. Also, if you ask Jesus in your heart, You are filled with God's Holy Spirit. This is your confirmation ticket, that you are in The Book of Life, and that you will be going to Heaven someday, when you pass away of after the Rapture and 1000 year rein. When I got saved at 16, I was super filled with the Holy Spirit. With some it takes some time. That spirit will always tell you what to do. First we love people in spite of their sin. God hates abortion, but he wants us to love women who have had one. They have been lied to. I am an old woman now, but I have blocked entrance to abortion clinics during Operation rescue in the 80's and 90's. I believe I was helping prevent murder, so I acted as such. I have a friend who had 9 abortions. She was lied to by the abortionist. When she realized that the baby was alive and felt pain, even at 6 weeks or earlier; she was horrified. These women need our love, they will struggle silently with this forever. Also, regular church attendance is not required in the bible. Some of us prefer home church, which is what the early Christians practiced. We have gotten very far away from what God intended for us. Some churches are way off track and not spirit filled. The world is gray. But God's words are black and white.

Plenty of nut jobs think like you. One old b**** killed five of her kids in order to send them to heaven, and now churches are trying to get her released. Go figure.

____

I can commit a murder, ask forgiveness & I'm good to go.

That loving God you speak of invented Hell. He's the one that will send you there. You'll hear people say , No, not true, that we send ourselves to Hell. Pay no attention to that. He made Hell for those of us that don't toe the line.

Bible says there will be more in Hell than Heaven. Gonna be a bunch of people that thinks they have it made that will get the surprise of their life one day.

No one said the word Christian was in the Bible. If the Bible is true & if God really exist (which I truly doubt), a Christian is supposed to be Christ like. That is where the word Christian comes from.

Are you one of those "spirit filled Christians" that believe if you don't have the "Holy Ghost", you ain't saved? There's actually people that believe that junk. It's sad that message is put out there, just like the COC that think they're the only ones going to Heaven. Pitiful!!

Your friend wasn't to horrified. Anyone that had 9 abortions, knew what she was doing, & what an abortion was all about. Someone should have told her how she was getting pregnant & how to prevent it.

Hey Granny, you say "The word Christian is not in the bible."  Did the Holy Spirit fail to tell you about this? BTW, you need to capitalize "Bible."

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
 s
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

A person doesn't have to be a Christian, Religious, or Atheist to realize that Abortion, particularly the things revealed in the most recent videos taken of Planned Parenthood are detestable and horrible and just wrong and inhumane.  Even Liberals should be able to see what horrible things are being done to the most innocent of humans.  I don't care what races are most affected by abortion for it's wrong no matter the race, sex, or nationality.   People can argue at what point a fetus becomes viable and life but a person is deceiving themselves if they think that point comes after the slap on the butt defines it.

Funding for this Abortion provider should be eliminated for there is plenty enough proof and evidence that they are doing this not only for profit but are doing it in many cases far beyond the point where the baby can survive on it's own.

My opinion .... these people are Murderers of the most innocent of people and it's detestable that others can justify what is going on daily and to such a horrific degree and number.

There has always been a lot of discussion on who is going to Heaven or not. If you believe in God and His Holy Word and DO what He has told us, do all He has commanded , not just the parts we decide to pick out to suit us, then we will inherit eternal life in Heaven with Him forever. Now we can say we believe and are doing His will, but God knows if that is so. I can fool you and you can fool me, but I can assuredly tell you we can't fool God. He knows not only what we say but He knows WHY we said it. He knows not only what we do but WHY we did it. Not everyone who says Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I suppose that is why He cautions us over and over about us judging other people. He knows and He is the one that counts.

Isn't it wonderful how God knew all this was going to happen to those innocent babies long before we did? He knew it & He still allows it! A poor innocent little baby that never did anything to anyone, never got a chance to live outside the womb but that wonderful, loving God allows it to be ripped out of the womb in pain.

These women that have abortions, especially someone like Ivy's friend that's had nine of them, need their insides ripped out so they could never carry another baby just to have it killed.

Yes God knew what would happen. He knows everything, but He did not make the decision to have a baby aborted, the mother did. God did not make us like a robot but He lets us make our own decisions. He tells us in His Holy Word that He wishes all to be saved, but it is left up to us to do right or wrong. When we make bad decisions sometimes it not only hurts us but hurts innocent others. If He had made us all where we had to love Him and do what is right, would that be true love. If we have to make people love us I would not consider that true love. Bottom line is it is up to us whether we do right or wrong and whether we go to Heaven or not, we can't blame God. He gave us the choice.

Not trying to be rude, just giving my opinion. That is the same old generic answer that is always given when someone questions why God allows the things he does. It's never Him, it's always someone else's fault even though He could stop it or never allow it in the first place.

Makes no sense to me.

God is not going to do everything for us. He gave us a brain to think with and we have to use it. If you stand in the middle of a busy road chances are you are going to get run over if you don't get out. God is not going to stop all the traffic for you just because you don't have enough sense to get out of the way. If a woman wants to get an abortion God is not going to stop her because that was her decision not His. No one ever wants their loved ones to die but God says we must depart from our journey here on earth in order to have a better place to be. Therefore He is not going to stop people from  passing away. We have to realize our life here on earth is not our final destination. When we get to Heaven according to Gods word there will be no more death, sickness, worries, time or anything bad that we have to deal with on earth, but while we are still here these are things we will have to deal with.

See what I mean?

I have arguments/opinions I could come back with to contradict everything you say but you would come back with the same generic answers "Christians" always give. But it would go no where because I think you're one of those that is so determined to be right, the discussion of it is a waste of time.

I love to debate with those that have an open mind. But when it comes to Christianity most "Christians" are stubborn & close their mind to the possibly of learning.

I mean, isn't a 100% guarantee of going to heaven better than the possibility of going to hell? If you let a child be born, it maaay go to hell, right?

All children less than the age of accountability go to heaven...or so I'm told.

I think it's funny how they took one of the passages she mentioned and claimed she was owned.  The idea is that there's several passages in the bible that suggest that life begins at the first breath, not conception, or that it's better to be miscarried or aborted than to live a life of sorrow.  As it's been said people interpret sentences differently.  Just because you disagree does not mean that they are completely wrong.

It does not matter what I think or what you think. Let God's word do the answering. He is the one with the correct answers. You may be wrong or I may be wrong. That is what is sad in religion today, everyone thinks they are right and if they can't find anyone to go along with them they will start their own religion. We have to go to God's word and get the answers, not depend on what we think or what someone told us but did God say. If He says something is wrong then it is wrong, if He tells us to do something then we should do it. Just because we live in the 21st. century does not mean we have the right to change anything God has told us. Don't take anything I say or someone else says until you see if that is what God has said.

As for as generic answers are concerned, if it is my opinion or yours or a group of people that could be considered a generic or popular opinion answer. If God said it that is not a generic answer, it is the only answer. If you believe in God you will know this is true, if you do no believe in Him then you can except whatever you want the answer to be, it's your choice.

If you believe in God you will know this is true, if you do no believe in Him then you can except whatever you want the answer to be, it's your choice.

================

If you don't believe in a god you don't have to accept anything, and no, not believing is not a choice. I don't understand why people think disbelief is a choice. To say it's a choice means a person would have to think something is true, but decide to disregard it or "choose to not believe it". That is not how it happens, or how it even could happen.

______

But I wasn't talking to God when I said generic answers is always given, I was talking to you. For me to talk to God, I would have to believe in His existence & I don't. And I don't except whatever I want the answer to be. That would be ridiculous for anyone to just make up whatever answer they want to something. My mind is always open to learning but I came to the belief, after much studying, that the Bible is no more true than the Winnie the Pooh storylines are. Why anyone would want to believe & live in fear of a man that makes a huge hole of fire to throw people in if they don't obey Him is beyond me. Believe in a man that says all you have to do is ask & He will deliver, but does not & not see that man as a liar is something I don't get.

The generic answers I always get is from people & their opinions, not a God.

God gave us the choice to believe in Him or not. Yes not believing is a choice. You and I have the privilege to believe or not believe in anything we want. I can believe you are telling the truth about something or I can not believe you are telling the truth. I believe in God if you do not then you don't believe.

_______

I used to believe in God, lived in fear of him because the Bible is a horrible storybook that has & will continue to scare children & they will carry that fear into adulthood. I didn't just one day decide not to believe in Him anymore. I studied, had many debates with people, I saw firsthand what went on in churches, what was told from the pulpit. Pastor's play on your emotions, your fears. I saw many prayers that weren't answered, people dying in horrible pain. When I ask why a prayer wasn't answered, I always got the same generic answer. Well, it wasn't His will, or it was that person's time to go. Yeah, right! God loved that person so much, He let him/her die a horrible pain filled death or He allowed a baby or small child to be raped before dying. But people come back with that beat up ole generic answer, that it wasn't God.  Your God is the only one with the magic that will either allow it or not allow it.

I said in my post that it was people who could give generic answers. If you do not believe in God you cannot get your answers from Him, according to you He does not exist. What you are saying must be you want someone to give you the answers you agree with and anything else is just a generic answer.

i gave you the reasons I believe in God and I will stand by them. I really do not know what answer you are looking for maybe someone else can help. You have the right to your opinion and I have the right to mine. There were times in my life I did not care about God myself, but I changed and now I do. It was my choice no one made it for me. Careful studying on my part brought me to where I am now no one made me. We do not agree on the subject of God .

If you do not believe in God and that there is no life after death then after you have lived your few years on earth that will be the end. I believe there is a life after death on this earth, I believe I will be somewhere, heaven or hell. I plan do do whatever I can to make sure it is heaven. We have a soul that will live forever not just a few years here on earth.

I was giving my opinion, not asking for anyone's advice or talking to anyone in particular. I thought that was what a forum was for. You give your opinion I give mine. If I was talking to anyone in particular I would have said so. Opinions are free and most of the time you get what it cost you, nothing.

If you like my opinion, fine, if not fine. I don't always like other opinions.

I'm certainly not going to try and answer for God why things are allowed to happen or why they do for frankly I just don't know and don't have an answer for that.   What you are doing though is something many of us do all the time and that is try and humanly understand God from a human dimension or reference.   I believe though God is beyond mankind's ability to understand, justify, or reason.  It could even be said if God knew about Sin and mankind's falling into it due to Satan then why create mankind in the first place?  Why not eliminate Satan, in the first place?  No it makes not sense in why the innocent die or are allowed to be killed other than to guess that God allows mankind to control and make decisions on our own regarding our own doings.

Then if you want to get philosophical about it one could reason that God did handle things in an instant or immediately as it came up for when you consider eternity past and eternity present as boundaries (actually they aren't any bounds when you deal with eternity) then any amount of time, regardless of the length of it, is considered but an instant or immediate.    For instance with respect to mankind 1000 years or even 1 million years seems like an eternity and many (physical) lifetimes however looking at it from God's perspective or God's view where time doesn't exist for eternity past - eternity future time drops out of the equation all together and thus God does handle it in but a second.

Also in a humanly perverse type way of justification one could argue that it is only a person's physical existence that is being cut short and not their spiritual/soul existence which is essentially what we are spiritually taught is the essence of a person.  So again from the standpoint of God or the Creator a life of one hundred years compared to a life of one day is essentially the same exact thing.  It is only our human perspective looking at it from a physical existence or physical, earthly life, that we consider such  distinctions as time.  I, for myself, have to rely upon Faith that God knows what God is doing and that my understanding is so severely flawed and limited that it is not for me to attempt to judge God, in human terms, when God is so far beyond our human limitations and understandings.

just a human opinion mind you.

Yes, you said if God said it, then it wasn't a generic answer. People always quote God when they give those generic answers. What I meant by generic is that people [Christians] will always give you the same answer. They're the same because people always quote what the Bible/God said.

I did not say that I want someone to give me answers I agree with. Those are your words, not mine. As I said, Generic is always giving the same answers, no matter who it is.

The answer I'm looking for is for a Christian to tell me, if God is so loving, why he allows someone to die a horrible, painful death or why a child or baby is allowed to be raped and/or murdered. No one has ever given me a satisfactory answer, it's always the same generic answer. And that answer never makes any sense. He can either allow it or not allow it. It's His choice.

No one has said you don't have the right to your own opinions because you do & I appreciate your giving them. I enjoy a good debate when it can happen w/o anger & an opinion trying to be forced on me. I came to believe the way I do because of the same careful studying you did, & it brought me to where I am.

People on here have implied that Best made me an "Atheist" & that's just not true. No one person made me anything. I have ask questions to some of the Atheist on this forum but they haven't made me into anything. The one main thing that has made me not believe was the Bible itself.

But I do thank you for your willingness to discuss Religion with me w/o anger.

I will be the first to admit that I do not know why God chose to do some things. I think if you are honest with yourself no one knows. We as humans have to deal with life as we know it here on earth. God's plan for us is to know there is a life after we die. I can not answer why bad things happen to good people, I do not know. I know God allowed His son to come to earth to die for our sins and He did not stop bad things from happening to Him. This life we now live lasts for only a short time. This is not our final resting place. If you want eternal life with God we may have to do some suffering here on earth. If God was going to shield us from all harm, then there would be some that would follow Him simply to have a good life on earth, not because they loved God and wanted to serve Him but because it benefited them. God wants true love for Him. If we truly believe in God and want to do His will we will have to trust that we know what and why He does things and not question Him. I do not have the ability to think or do as He does. We have to look beyond this short life on earth to an eternal home in Heaven.
