TUNKHANNOCK, PA — A 26-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl pleaded guilty on Friday. Edwardo Valenzuela appeared in the Wyoming County Court of Commons Pleas before President Judge Brendan Vanston, who sentenced him to 41-81 days in jail. Valenzuela, who is an illegal immigrant, received credit for 81 days served and is expected to be taken into custody by Immigration and Custom Enforcement, public defender Deborah Albert-Heise said. According to the criminal complaint, Valenzuela sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl from Scranton Feb. 13 through March 19 at a residence in Meshoppen.Valenzuela was arrested on March 20 and has been held at the Wyoming County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000.ICE spokeswoman Ernestine Fobbs said that Valenzuela will likely appear before an immigration judge.She added that some people who are illegally in the country and deported following conviction on a crime can be barred from returning. --------------------------------------------
Really? He can be barred from returning? Like, the same way way he was barred from entering our country illegally to begin with? Why shouldn't he come back? He repeatedly raped a 13-year-old girl in this country, plead guilty, served 11 weeks in county jail, and might (or might not) get deported. That's punishment?
