I, personally, disagree with the decision but I do not feel the issue should have ever come before the Supreme Court.  It should be left up to each State and the citizens of the States.  I do though realize that it became a Supreme Court issue when people cross state borders and to be accepted throughout the land as if some marry in a state where it's legal then move to a state where it's illegal there becomes an issue that has to be decided.  I have always had no problem with civil unions and same benefits as men and women that are married but I do not believe that marriage should be redefined and I sure don't believe that those who have religious objections to it should be forced to participate in ceremonies that run counter to their own beliefs.

I also believe the Supreme Court has ceased to function as an agency to interpret the Constitution for they have become political and the Constitution is not a politically influenced document.

Sorry to disappoint you but this Christian is not against the decision, since they allowed for Priest to decline doing the ceremony.  As you have posted the Bible has many ideas we do not support today such as slavery, stoning etc.  The simple fact is people are born everyday with both complete sex organs and many are and were reassigned when born.  Not a stretch to think the same thing happens in the brain.  As the Bible states not my place to judge!  I do not want to see them making out in public but do not want to see straight couples do it either!

Who exactly is being forced to participate in ceremonies that run counter to their own beliefs?

How is marriage being redefined? Just because someone stuck 'holy' in front of matrimony doesn't  redefine a thing. How many now days wait until after marriage to have sex, or even kids, yet they stand smiling in front of preachers that are smiling and get married, sometimes with the kids taking part in the ceremony. Remember that fad a while ago, dragging little out of wedlock baby down the aisle on the train of mommy's white wedding gown? My gosh, how do you hypocrites stand it??

===============================

Marriage, also called matrimony or wedlock, is a socially or ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them, between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws.[1] The definition of marriage varies according to different cultures, but it is principally an institution in which interpersonal relationships, usually sexual, are acknowledged. In some cultures, marriage is recommended or considered to be compulsory before pursuing any sexual activity. When defined broadly, marriage is considered a cultural universal.
