Chucky boy, what I do is an authenticated, licensed reporting on direct received aircraft data by radio within a hundred mile radius which is fed by internet to a central agency to verify flight data that otherwise would be limited to radar or satellite. There are thousands of reporting stations like mine all over the world. You might try being a help to society someday rather than bumping your gums.

Sounds like what I used to do as a kid.  Some of my friends and my mom did some civil defense work back in the 50s by "plane spotting" ie: whenever a plane went over, they would call some number and report the type and which way it was headed. Back in those days, planes flew at about 2000 ft., so it was easy to tell which type was what with the charts they gave us. After a while, the moms would go for a coffee break, and leave us kids to spot the planes. All that went on for a few months, and I don't know whether it ended when we got out of Korea, or what.

If anyone saw the English film Trainspotting, besides the sad druggie plot, the name comes from a hobby in the UK of those who record sightings of rare locomotives. Such persons are usually considered socially inept and not the brightest lights.  Old Squirrelly Dawg is well into geezerdom and can't get out much.  Let old do rag have his hobby.

My reporting station runs by itself. I have no input. The station just sees Hi when he flies over and reports his flight data to verify that he has not gone nuts and cancelled his flight plan on the way to mischief. Radar and satellite tracks him also but these ground stations verify that he is within an area where radar says he's is located. Bud is another matter for the time being but he is watched by radar and his radar position is sent to my screen via the internet regardless or whether he is  transmitting data or not. My station receives data giving the aircraft ident, plane origin, country, flight # speed, altitude, direction of travel, where it took off and where it better be going and the data is uploaded every few seconds.  Anyone can participate but it requires somewhat of a brain. Antenna has to be built [antennas for microwave frequencies are very critical], proper feed line with low loss is required and an un-obstructed view of the sky are musts.
