Good news from Minnesota: The recount is over, and it is now clear that Al Franken won the Senate election.

The state canvassing board has finished recounting all of the ballots and Franken now holds a lead of 225 votes. The canvassing board is scheduled to certify Franken as the winner today.

Did someone on this forum call for Franken to concede the race and give up his challenge of the official count?

thanks for proving the exact point of why there was a recount in the first place. that and the fact that coleman was so adamant about NOT having a recount..but only now, wanting it to go on.

"It's up to him whether such a step is worth the tax dollars it will take to conduct," Coleman said, telling reporters he would "step back" if he were in Franken's position.

Now we turn to the 1,346 absentee ballots that were identified by election officials as improperly rejected. The two campaigns must agree that a ballot was wrongfully discarded before it can be counted — and GOP Sen. Norm Coleman’s campaign is not making that easy.

The Franken team has agreed that all 1,346 ballots should be counted. But the Coleman camp is recommending the inclusion of just 778 of these ballots, as well as 67 ballots that were not flagged by election officials as improperly rejected.

and my favorite...

One of the votes in the Minnesota Senate race was challenged by the Coleman campaign because the voter had written the following on the ballot (along with his vote for Franken):

Thank you for counting my vote!

This election stinks of Soros and the spirit of Tammany Hall. At least 25 precincts have reported more ballots than there are registered voters.

Then, there's the Hennepin County (Minneapolis) precinct which "lost" 133 votes. The hand recount showed fewer ballots than machine votes recorded on election night. Though there is no proof to this missing vote charge -- officials may have accidentally run the ballots through the machine twice on election night -- the Canvassing Board chose to go with the election night machine total, rather than the actual number of ballots in the recount. That decision gave Mr. Franken a gain of 46 votes. Where are the missing ballots -- in the car truck of crony of Mayor Daley's, perhaps?

Strange things keep happening in Minnesota, where the disputed recount in the Senate race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken may be nearing a dubious outcome. Thanks to the machinations of Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and a meek state Canvassing Board, Mr. Franken may emerge as an illegitimate victor.

In Florida we are thinking of sending Carrot Top and Larry the Cable Guy to D.C. in the next election. I hope Texas elects Ron White and Georgia sends Jeff Foxworthy.

Actually, Larry the Cable Guy may actually increase the average IQ of the Senate.

Significantly.
When Coleman was about 400 votes ahead he suggested that Franken do the "right thing" and concede. Now that he is a few hundred behind, he has changed his tune and is filing a lawsuit.
Another hypocrite exposed.
I haven't really kept up with him or his record, but he must have really done something bad to piss off a little over half the voters in his state enough to vote for a comedian .
