Alabama mayor resigns in order to take care of church

From the article it appears this may be a town government that should be dissolved. They didn't have enough people interested to run for every council position? Not one?

I commend him for deciding what was more important to him -- his pastorship or being mayor...not many "pastors" today would make that choice -- they would follow the money and not their calling...

Not sure which church he is the pastor of, but if it's like many of the churches I've attended over the years -- the pastor had to have a 2nd job and sometimes 3rd job just to make ends meet...so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion...The fact that he had another "job" makes him bi-vocational -- which means he doesn't make near what you would think. Many bi-vocational preachers barely make minimum wage if you were to add up the actual time they "do their job" and divide it into their "salary" -- it equates to a full time pastor working on a part-time job salary or less...bottom line is that he has to answer for his decision and I can't fault a man for doing what he thinks is best for his congregation...

actually in 7-7 1/2 years we should be breaking even, no big surplus but no huge deficit either
