The amendment to take the money from the trust fund will fail because it has not been fully explained in a way people can understand. I read one article that says the prisons will get the money. then another article says the education system will get the money, another says medicare or medicade will get the money.  I want a simple chart showing how much money each year will come from the trust fund and a breakdown on where that money and how much will go to who. Why is the state avoiding giving us a simple list of these.

I know a huge portion of it would go to supplement Medicaid and the Health Department, both of which are essential services, as far as I am concerned.  The prisoners can do without, but there is no reason not to support this ammendment if it will shuffle money to places that need it.  I have to support it, though I doubt it will pass, and we will see some tremendous fallout from it.

Better read the amendment. Montgomery has been dipping into this fund for awhile but now they want to start striping moneys from it principle. They're not satisfied in just raping the interest the fund makes they want to start depleting that part of it that makes the interest. Pretty soon they will have striped everything from it. The fund was set up to keep the politicians hands away from the oil and gas royalties.

Read the amendment! They have never paid back what they have already taken and there is no mention of a payback for what they want to take this time.

Make them do their job instead of just looking for the easiest way out by kicking the can down the road.

We've let them get away with this in previous years so now they've decided to push the envelope a little future to the edge of the table.

Senator Sessions has sent out a request asking Alabamians to vote no on this amendment. He has stated there are other ways to fix this problem but it requires our leaders in Montgomery to apply some time and creative thinking. Also they can do it without making the poor and elderly pay the price or by turning convicts lose on the public with early releases.

Read the amendment! If it is voted down they still have time to make the changes needed to prevent them from reducing its principle.

Better yet it would be better if they made the changes necessary that would force them to operate within their budget. Just like every tax payer in the state has to do. If they are unable to do that then maybe we need to start looking for smarter business minded people to run our state.

Noticed the TD is pimpin hard for the Amendment to pass. I will vote no but not b/c of Sessions. He's in DC anyway I would think he's got other things to occupy his time. No provision to pay it back and setting it for a special election to keep turnout down and hopefully get it passed are my main gripes. The general fund does need more revenue but no one wants to even consider an obvious solution legalize gambling.
