Went to Aldi's Thursday and they had a HUGE bag of charcoal for $2.99. Gave it a try today and 3 thumbs up. It is comparable to Kingsford. Everything I mean everything I have bought there has been top quality. Also for a great taste test try their frozen hamburger patties.

Aldi has some great merchandise. I have bought frozen fish several times and have been pleased each time. Wish there was a location on the south side of the river.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to stay out of Wally much as possible..
Great idea! Stay away from red-necks.
I make an Aldi run weekly, and was there last night. They don't have everything I need, but shopping's fast and efficient with their relatively small store. Many of their house brands are 50% cost of large supermarkets (i.e. Walmart). Walmart's groceries are very expensive--except for their few house brand items. Everyone's wanting the Publix to open, but they're really, really expensive. Other than sale items and specialized deli items, I cannot afford Publix for "big groceries."

Aldi's does "inexpensive" better than anyone else in town, but Publix does "variety" better.
Right now no one in Florence carries pastrami except Wal-mart. And they don't always have it.
When Winn Dixie was here, I could always find a few "unusual" things to try. That's where I got my first taste of Stilton cheese. Now that Food World is in the same site, I'm lucky if I can find sliced Swiss cheese 1/3 of the times I visit.

Publix will have pastrami. When Winn-Dixie was here, they had some excellent, very lean pastrami. The absence of a place where good pastrami can be dependably found is a certain sign of a decaying society! Zager's deli in Nashville used to have the best pastrami sandwiches in the universe. Don't know if they are still around.
