Early this year Don Imus spent a good part of his program speculating on the possible consequences of taking the Bush Administration and some other people to the gallows.

It was not pretty, and it was not complimentary to the Commander in chief and his cronies.

Then Imus hit a topic near and dear to liberals, and got canned.

I cannot help wondering if the Rutgers Women's Basketball ruckus was not just a "convenient excuse" for getting rid of Imus after he, well, ummmmm, insulted GW Bush and Company. Some people actually took the January 3rd show to be Imus urging the hanging of the President, but a transcript shows only that he was speculating on how certain members of the administration would react to being led to the gallows.
There was not much of a blow up, but I still wonder, "would Imus have been out so far in the cold if he had been a bit more respectful regarding Mr's Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Pearle and Wolfowitz?"

Ed, I do not know the answer to your question, it would be a VERY interesting answer though, IF we were to ever get the TRUE one, ya know?

Anyway... MONEY AMERICA had as much, if not more to do with his firing by pulling their commercials for the show... it WAS indeed a Stockmarket plan... The Stock Market running who businesses hire and fire and how they punish employees.. Gosh, sounds like ANYTHING BUT AMERICA to me...

I do NOT like Imus, and I never spent my time watching him... but what happened to him over a stupid, VERY STUPID remark was too harsh... and believe me, I just bet ANY one of you out there has NOT made stupid remarks, right?????

Wrong, we are all imperfect, and we all make stupid mistakes and remarks all the time...

HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH THESE DAYS???? Apologizing, govelling, and begging isn't enough these days... off to the gallows with ANYONE who is not PC....

It is a VERY WEIRD AMERICA we are waking up to these days... very different indeed.

Another Shock Jock ended up out of work shortly after critical comments regarding Bush. The blowback there was all about Bush interfering with free criticism of his Administration. I think this time they just waited till a "More Acceptable" Insult was available to make an issue of.

Sounds like a DemoRat plan to me. Jumping on something without Confusedthinking who will replace him. The replacement will probably be even worse against the Republican party.
Since he was being paid an estimated ten million a year, they could replace him with a news show equal to or better than Morning edition for about the same money.
Rush Limbaugh... Now here in is another "Motor Mouth" you have got to wonder about. Like, for instance HOW, can he can be arrested many times for using, and abusing drug's, and get away with it??

This guy has been arrested many times for abusing drug's and only gets his wrist's slapped. How come ??? Why isn't he arrested, and put in prison for good like all the other druggies who abuse the system?

This Limbaugh caracter can get away with it because he is (1)The Republican't's fair haired boy,(2) And he has over the years talked his way into becoming a multi-millionare, (3) because people (Republicant's) want to just let by gone's be by gone's as far as his DRUG ABUSE GO'S.

Its a whole different standard for the Rich and Famous to get off of being sent to the BIG HOUSE for their transgresions as far as DRUG'S go. Murder too! Ted Kennedy is a good example of that one. Funny how we forget, or so they think.

Semper fi,(carry on citizen's!)

Sure. Just another way the liberals can suppress an opposing view. There would be nothing "fair" about it. It would discourage "hot topic" debates and would eventually lead to political correctness at its worst.

Actually when the fairness doctrine was in effect the amount of "commentary" was limited. No Rush Limbaugh diatribes, only open discussion, driven by audience interest. Worst thing that ever happened to American Political debate was giving free airtime to political bombast of the type Limbaugh produces.

The airways belong to all Americans, not just the corporate sponsors or owners.
