A letter has been drafted to send to Nancy Pelosi telling her not to support amnesty for criminals. A lot of senators are signing it. Robert Adderholt and Jeff Sessions of Alabama. Even Lamar Alexander and John Ducan of Tennessee.

Richard Shelby has not yet signed it. Please call your representative and ask them to sign the letter and also to OPPOSE AMNESTY to CRIMINAL ALIENS!

Phone your Representative and emphasize the importance of signing the NO AMNESTY letter to Pelosi this week.

This is the switchboard number in Washington: 202-224-3121

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker
U.S. House of Representatives
Office of the Speaker
H-232, US Capitol
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Speaker Pelosi:

We are Democratic and Republican Members who are united in asking you not to bring amnesty legislation to the House floor.

Citizenship is the greatest honor and responsibility our country can offer. Millions of people around the world play by the rules, obey the law, and often wait years for the opportunity to legally immigrate.

When Congress granted permanent residence to millions of illegal immigrants in 1986, we required them to wait, pay a fine, and “learn” English. The result was legally and publicly recognized as amnesty.

Amnesty hurts vulnerable American workers, burd ens American taxpayers, and rewards lawbreakers. It encourages more illegal immigration. And it tells all those who have patiently waited abroad for their turn to come to the United States that they are foolish.

The United States has the most generous legal immigration system in the world. We should take the side of American workers and taxpayers, legal immigrants and the rule of law. Please oppose any effort to put illegal immigrants on the path to amnesty.

Sincerely,
Original Post

This letter opposes one part of the comprehensive immigration reform that we need. I think it is based on a flawed ideal, and that is that obedience to the law outweighs justice.

I disagree with the sentiment.
Here is how to promote it more effectively, and you can in fact move this forward with several strategic moves.

One: contact your representatives in Congress, exactly as you propose.
Two: Produce a letter of your own, expressing your sentiments. Send it along with the information needed for referencing this letter to the newspaper as a letter to the editor. Send it to other newspapers as well.
Three: Put your post from this forum on every forum you can find on the internet. If you want feedback, put e mail notifications in the forums you register on so that you are notified when responses are posted.

I do it by composing the letter or posting on wordpad, and cutting and pasting it into the various forums. That saves a lot of time, and you can do the same with e mails to your representatives.

That's a tough question. I am not sure I can provide an answer. But I think it is unjust to punish a person for taking a job the law says he cannot take, that needs to be done, that is offered to him, and that you personally would not do for the proffered wage. There are 12 million jobs that benefit the American Economy being done by people who are prohibited from working at any job in this country. Replacing them with people who are not prohibited from doing the jobs is an impossible task.
Justice says the law needs to be changed to accommodate the people who are willingly cutting up chickens for Tyson foods.

Unless you are willing to buy unprocessed chickens. Kill them, pull the feathers, take out the innards, cut up the carcass, and clean the meat.

Justice says that if I benefit from your breaking of the law, I should not punish you for breaking the law.

Like it or not Southern Patriot we benefit from the labor of the illegals. IT IS UNJUST TO PUNISH THEM FOR DOING THE WORK.

So who did all that before the illegals got here?

No, but it is just to punish them for breaking our laws. If they weren't in this country, we would be benefiting from the labor of fellow Americans. Instead, Americans are living off the government because it's cheaper to pay an illegal under the table.

There is no such thing as a job that Americans won't do. Study the great depression of the 1930's and you'll see for yourself.

NashBama, to be a Republican these days you have to believe that unemployment is Low, and Illegal aliens are not filling jobs that would go begging without them.
You have to believe that individuals negotiate the wages and working conditions at Tyson Foods and WalMart. And they are probably being paid more than they are worth.
You have to believe every crime has to be punished, unless the crook is wearing a power tie when he commits it.
You have to believe it is OK to torture people, unless they are yourself.
You have to believe that the employers of illegal aliens are innocent victims of counterfeit papers.
You have to believe that terrorists don't buy guns, so it's OK not to tell the DHS that the ATF has a record of every legal gun sale, and selling guns are "Gun Shows" doesn't circumvent the law and regulations regarding gun sales.
You have to believe it is OK to Create a "militia" for the express purpose of preventing government misbehavior, but a Crime to Protest the war in Iraq.
How do I know this is all true? I have been reading YOUR commentary.

First of all, I'm not a Republican.

Second, the rest of that post is incoherent, I can't respond to something that doesn't make sense.

OK>>>here is the situation. Unemployment is low. Illegals are working. If you send them all home, who will do the jobs they have?
I thought you were a Republican, because you sure don't fit the profile of a Democrat, and the only political philosophy you do fit that is NOT Republican is unmentionable without committing slander.
