One of the best things I've heard in a while is that Andy Betterton is running for the council. Andy is now on the Board of Education and there is no member as devoted to the school system as he is. I have been to very few city school functions (I have a daughter that is a Senior at Florence) that Andy hasn't been there from a football game to a band concert. He is very devoted to our kids. Hes kind and always knows you no matter where hes at. I live in District 6 and will definitely vote for him and campaign for him. It would be nice to have someone on the council who would be there for the better of the city than there to hear themselves talk. Go Andy! Oh yeah, he also has an excellent voice. Maybe he could entertain some at the meetings that are televised! Be better than the show the current council puts on sometimes. Big Grin

The Irons Camp likes to meddle in City Council races hoping to get a "yes" man or woman for the "mayor." It happened last time and I figure it will this time too. Any candidate that thinks that is the way to win by currying favor that way will be personally weakened, and will also be detrimental to the City overall. Some of the current stuff that goes on is explained by what I am saying here.

They severely miscalculated on one of the current city council members last time though. There is at least one member with a mind of his own and a back-bone as well. That, they don't want.

If Andy is going to be independent from all that he better decide right now or he will be co-opted. I like him and think he will be his own man. Harold Lewis, not sure yet. I hope so. Angie Pickens has shown she will stand up to the "treatment" at times and do what is right, and not what is "expected."

I wish them all well and hope they run on their own merits and that our citizens view each candidate on their own merits, without undue influence as I described above. It will happen, it will come, I just hope it is resisted in the best interests of the City and the candidates, and not the ones doing it. Resisting it is quite liberating I hear, and also good for the City.

That's a win/win.

This message brought to you by Crazies for Carrier -- "Making voters slightly uncomfortable with our girlish giddiness since 2007!"
Oh YOU.

GoFishy has latent homosexual tendencies manifested by occusing someone else of the very thing he is. It must be tough in that cold, dark, lonely, closet. Come on out and breath the air. We don't care.

He is also the one who said David Bronner had nothing to do with the railcar jobs coming here and gave the "mayor" credit for it, although he had nothing to do with it at all.

That's how brilliant the Fish is.
Harold Lewis a very good citizen of Florence, along with Andy Betterton. I don't think you will see any mud-slinging amoung these two. I have met Andy only one time and he seems to be a very nice person, met Harold serveral times, and he also is a very nice person. Both I believe will stick to the issues, and do what is right for the city. I don't know who else is running in that district. Harold is a will successful business man, and has a lot of great ideals. I believe both Harold and Andy will run a clean and respectable race.
