What happened to the “million dollar contract”

Unless I wasn’t reading the fine print I thought someone would spend a million on her after she won.

Were we mislead with false advertisement ?

I listened to every show and voted for every time and she won.

I bought her CD.

SO WHAT GIVES? Were we duped ?

I wanna see some figgers…..

I kinda think she may have been lied to. Am i wrong?

TNX Bluesman...sounds like you worked hard for her..I think she is great...I just hope they kept their end of the bargin and gave her what they led the public to believe...

I guess you can put any value on something you give someone....in her case I think it should be one million sho nuff bucks...

What makes you think they haven't?

..just a feeling....
…personally..I think she should be given the same attention and exposure Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and others are given…in other words..I want to see her on GAC…every time I turn the TV on…I think she is as good or better.
Welcome to the music biz people! It's not about what we want. It's about what they want us to have. It would appear that she is being "shelved".

Hunter S. said it best:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

Her best bet would probably be to try and jump from that sinking ship. A lot of the big artists already have. Record companies are no longer a necessity. They are only in the way. They sure can suck the life out of the artist, the money out of your wallet, and all the air out of the room!
Carrie Underwood got more exposure for the simple fact that American Idol is watched more than Nashville Star.

It's not exactly fair, but it's one reason why she is "spotlighted" more than Angela hacker is.

If I were to ever make it in the music industry, I'd try to be as hands on as I could be. The more you allow for a record company to do for you, the less money you'll actually see.

You only get a percentage of what your cd, and merchandise actually sales, if you get into a contract with a big company. If you can find a way to make it without having to use a large company, at least as much, you will bring in more. Smiler

W_Z is exactly right on that. Smiler

It makes me wonder if her contract was the coverage costs for making her cd's, instead of just handing her the $. I sure do hope she hasn't been shelfed.

I do have to give a shameless plug though, if you like to support local talent, ya'll keep an eye out for Jay Hovater. That man can sing, and write, so very well- and is trying to make it himself. Big Grin

He was in the top 60 of Nashville Star, but didn't make it past that. *sigh*

He's a great guy, I've known him for years. Big Grin

Anyways, sorry, I ramble. hehe

~Amanda
Then it's not the 'right time' for you. I'd not ever get myself into something that I'm not allowed to read or take to an attorney. If that would prevent me from getting a contract at that moment, so be it. Smiler

These days, with the right amount of uniqueness, and the right amount of advertizing you can get famous on Myspace, just by sharing your music. Smiler

It doesn't happen a whole lot, but there has been around 5 bands that I know of that got launched, merely from the peer to peer, myspace paging. Big Grin

I don't do MTV much, but every now and then when there's not much else on, I will click it over there. Some of the shows they have are pretty funny. Big Grin

Otherwise, though, yea, if you don't do MTV, or Myspace- or read music news, you'd most likely not have heard of them. Big Grin

I'm sure if you've listened to any non-country station, that you must have at least heard Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls". It's been played to death. LOL

That is a very good question. I was expecting to hear her on the radio soon, but nothing so far. I don't think many of the people that have been on previous Nashville star shows have made it big, which is a shame. I know Angela fairly well and am a huge fan of her and Zac.

I would love to see her on CMT and hear her on the radio!
I don't care for country music but my mother told me that Angela Hacker was performing at Tharptown School in Franklin County a few weeks ago. Tharptown school!??!!? LOL, I would say that her career isn't remotely stellar to Carrie Underwood.

As for American Idol, the last winner, Jordan Sparks released her album a few weeks ago and it had the poorest sales figures of any of the winners so far. Taylor Hicks also appears to be a flash in the pan. Maybe American Idol is losing it's influence?

I had heard this through the grapevine when the show was on!
the kids father was ALWAYS seated off camera, eventhough HE made sure the kid NEVER missed a show. then when the producers sent a camera crew to interview the father, they had to do the interview 3 times, then admitted that they weren't getting the interview they expected. I have nothing for her.

This is part of what was in the article below. Click on the link to read it all.

She said an album of new material has apparently been placed on hold because of administrative changes inside the record label.
"I have no clue if they're interested in me," she said.
Hacker is not letting that come between her and her fans.

Seems none of the winners from this show have had success. Even though this show doesn't get the exposure as AI..you would think enough record executives would be paying attention to the finalists from the show.

From Wikipedia....
Nashville Star was criticized from its inception as an American Idol ripoff, but the show has outlived many critics' initial predictions of failure [3]. During Nashville Star's first season, Idol host Ryan Seacrest took a jab at Star on the air, calling it American Idol "without the talent."
First season winner Buddy Jewell had two top-five singles on his first album, which went to #1 on the Billboard charts (specifically the country album chart), but his second album didn't sell well and he was dropped by his record company. Brad Cotter, the 2004 champion, didn't chart any singles in the top 30 in his post-Star album, and was dropped by his label. As of 2007, Erika Jo, the 2005 winner has yet to have a hit single, while the only single to reach the chart from 2006 winner Chris Young peaked at #42. Angela Hacker, the winner of Season 5, has achieved little success with her post-Star album, and most often still plays concerts in her hometown. Despite this, the show has been a ratings hit for USA Network.
It's gravity's pull. You can take the person out of the Shoals, but you can't take the Shoals out of the person. To be a star, you must "be" a star; be a professional. She was great on the show, but she needed to be greater after the show. People expect you to be better "live" than what they saw on TV; obviously that wasn't the case. Company choices? maybe; personal choices? maybe; bad choices? maybe. Musicians around probably know, but until someone comes out and says it, you can decide.

That was one of the best quotes I've ever heard. Only second to "Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a helicopter and land next to some" - David Lee Roth.

Yea, Nashville can be cruel. I went up there and noticed some good talent at some of the bars on Broadway and Printers Alley. Great voices, but some did not have the looks (Shania, Faith, Carrie, etc) Angela is pretty for sure, but I don't think her style would be to be "vamped" up like the other hotties. She is more traditional (like country should be) I saw another girl singing up there that had potential and was really pretty, but she wasn't dressed up or made up AT ALL. I thought...you can't make it up here without a certain look. It is a big commercial thing for sure. Country music videos are getting pretty raunchy nowdays. So sad..one I particulary thought was AWFUL was Honky Tonk Badonka Donk (may be spelled wrong) Listening to the song was fine..but that video may as well been on MTV or BET. It wasn't what I would call a country type video...they could have had girls in tight fitting jeans dancing and made their point....but skin sells!
