I agree, that's sorry for the company to do this to the people who have made money for THEM for a long time!!! This makes me sick!!!!!! Mad

I believe that would be illegal, some what akin to theft of property...I know you were not serious.
Is that the same Arrow Transportation that ran a barge line on the Tennessee River?
It's even worse than you thought:

"Compounding trucker frustration is the fact that because Arrow has not formally fired its employees or gone bankrupt but only suspended operations, that makes it impossible for employees to file for unemployment benefits."

But the truckers are networking to minimize the inconvenience, as explained in the link.

Arrow hierarchy = scum-suckin' pigs for this kind of inhumane treatment of hard-working truckers.!! Surely they could have planned and carried this out without creating such havoc for their employees. May itches and blains sow all their bosoms and the crop be general leprosy! (Credit: W. I once was terminated from a job and told to remove my items and find a way home. I thought yeah, after having worked there for over nine years, I took the truck to my home, removed my personal items, called them and told them to find a way to get the truck back to their shop. They had a County deputy escort a driver to come and get the truck.
They had the gall to call me a couple weeks later asking me to come back to work for them. I am now their biggest competitor!
A statement was put out a couple days ago by Arrow (Or maybe the finance company) that if trucks weren't returned to nearest terminals or dealerships, by today, that drivers could face THEFT charges.

On a good note, the trucking community has pulled together and helped get MANY drivers home.

Other companies have offered jobs and transportation costs to orientations around the country.

Lawguy can confirm, but I think you have to steal something for it to be considered theft. Id tell them I was on the way to the dealership close to my house when I ran out of gas between point a and point b. What happeded to it after I left it on the side of the road is the fault and responsibility of my ex employer, I just drive the truck!

.....Good for you Gus!!! Cool
I agree...the threat of theft charges are just one of the many tactics many OTR companies and/or INDIVIDUAL middle management employees use to keep their drivers "in line".

I AM an OTR driver...somedays I think I should have chosen to just hire myself a Dominatrix a couple days a week to tie me up and beat me with a leather strap. Big Grin

I agree mekirk2....but the FACT is...the way the industry/system works, that would be the last day you worked in the industry.

Abandonment is a serious offense.
