Johnny Fleeman, owner of Legend's Steakhouse in Florence is closing for good.  Mr. Fleeman told Times Daily that he hopes to reopen in the future with a new concept there at the same location, which is where Court Street Cafe used to be.  Sadly, I don't look for Legends' to be the only restaurant casualty of the Shoals area.  Also according to Fleeman Legends was going to close at some time in the future and the Corona Virus just speeded up the inevitable, for that location.

For my part, I thought Legend's Steakhouse had three great offerings in the beginning but over the years two of them dropped off.  I always thought that Legends had great Prime Rib along with some of the best Baked Potatoes around and also a great, and well equipped, salad bar.  Of those three only the Salad Bar continued to stay the same as I thought the other two were great when they opened but over the years wasn't near as good as when they opened.

I'm glad to hear he plans to try it with a new concept but only time, and the economy, will tell once this COVID-19 Virus epidemic is in the rear window of history.

Luv seafood Gus so no opposition here to that desire but I’d also love to see a Cajun restaurant as when New Orlean’s Transfer closed account of the owner’s death there was no replacement.  I can at least go to Lash’s for Gumbo (well when this Virus situation is over that is).

I don’t know the guy who opened that little hole in the wall restaurant on Avalon Avenue years ago, just down from the police station but he was a single dad that moved to the area to open a Cajun/Creole type restaurant and he had some great food but sadly closed up and moved back to New Orleans.  Man I miss his Cajun Pasta and his bread pudding was the best.
