All the ruckus over whether or not he wears a flag lapel pen is ridiculous. I don't wear one either, but it is not due to lack of patriotism, just usually don't wear one of any kind.
Reminds me of the words to an old John Prine song:

"But your flag decal won't get you into Heaven anymore
There already overcrowded from your dirty little war
Jesus don't like killing, no matter what the reason for,
And your flag decal won't get you into Heaven anymore "
Fire -- I am right there with you. I think we need a major change in Washington.

If Hildabeast were the winner I would consider voting for her over McCain, but as it stands now with Obama in the race -- McCain will have my vote...

It's not just about a lapel pin -- it's not what he says that scares me -- it's what he doesn't say...it's about the people he has surrounded himself with for decades and because they might cost him the presidency he denounces them -- he didn't denounce them when they said these things fromt he pulpit years ago -- he denounced them when it would make him have to admit he agrees with them and that would cost him in the long run...He is very "fair weather" with those people -- He's no different than any other politician, but I don't trust him more than any one else -- he's scary.
I gotta add, all that being said, Hillary was the candidate that I hoped for and could vote for with no misgivings.
Now, it appears we will be left with Bush again or Obama.
McCain (aka Bush) 6 years ago would have been a good choice, but he did some things that I cannot abide; He went and kissed up to Jerry Faldwell, a sour ole pickle and I believe McCain should NOT have done that.
In addition , he not only supported Bush for a 2nd term, but actively campaigned for him. Bush is probably the worse president our country has ever had, and to support him on his 1st term was one thing; we didn't know just how bad he could be, but to support him for a second term , knowing what a sorry human Bush really is, shows a lack of good sense, and that is something I just can't get past for McCain.
Worse yet, he wants to continue with Bush's occupation of Iraq, even if it takes 100 years, and if you think that isn't bad enough, he wants to continue with Bush's economic agenda. I used to like McCain, but I am now afraid he is beginning to loose his mind.

I will therefore, vote for whatever candidate the Democrats have, because whoever it is, whether Obama, or my daughter's cat, it is less distasteful than a vote for McCain.
Our country may not recover from the harm Bush has done, but it still has a chance. Given another 4 years of Bush (aka McCain) and it may be lost completely.
Thanks Fire, he truly is a great songwriter. Here is another version I found while I was enjoying the one you posted.
All this flag pin, and yellow magnetic ribbons on cars is just symbolic patriotism. The real thing is doing what you can to help our country improve itself, or in this case, get out of the mess we are left in.
Anyway, thanks for the youtub link.

sorry, didn't even realize there was a separate section!

Then why do you post in the separate section? You can't say you did not know about the Political section if you post in that section. Roll Eyes

The LIB MEDIA? WHERE? FDR, you mean, The Right Wing Media. You are seeing change that the youth wants. I know many republicans who have teens voting for Obama. The young people are not allowing mom,dad or the preacher to tell them how to vote this time. The Young folks are for change and not a McSame.
JJPaul: If they want change they would get it with Obama thats for sure. I don't think we have ever had an un-patrotic president. One who tries so hard to be black but his American heritage is White. For him to be critcal of a White people for being racist but accept tolerance when it comes to a person of African decent saying something of a racial tone is wrong! It would be a change to travel and hang with the enemies. Presidents before had boundries when it came to that. If the youth want change they would get it with Obama. But I could never get behind that kind change to our Nation! I am proud to be an American and would like the leader of our country to be proud of that as well!

Thanks Hippie for the Link! powerful..but then again it's just words! right? ~
The level of ignorance and intolerance that gets leveled against Obama is just appalling. For the first time in years, there are two candidates who do not fall into the Rich White Male category that seems to be a must in order to be proven as an "effective" leader for this nation. Rich white men have royally screwed this nation every which way they can, so I say give someone else a chance at running this country. If people haven't learned from the last 8 years of NeoCon greed, I guess that they will never learn.

Obama is a multi millionaire from his book sales, so that rules out the rich part. Basically you're voting for him because he isn't white. How is that not racist?

EyeblastEyeblast is the name of the site where hippiegirl got the video and posted it here. Read below!!

Someone who didn't like Obama put a video together with old news clips and put their opinions to it. Anyone can do this. Its a propaganda video.

I have forwarded this video to some and mentioned it to others. Amazingly, when I've spoken of Che Guevara several individuals have not known who he was. I would suggest any Obama supporters who have never heard the name Che Guevara should Google it. It will be an eye-opener.

Wow, in 2008 I find that very scary. I first learned of him through a juvenile client I had to deal with several years ago. Guevera was his idol and he was all about the revolution. To avoid talking about himself in his sessions, he would go on about this man and the "good" he was doing. I remember thinking how scary that "kids" could get that caught up in someone like him...we need to get a handle on some of these issues...

We need to vote for our future and not based on our disappointment of the past several years...We need to pay attention, not only to what is being said, but what is not being said...and Obama leaves a lot of gaps that I fear...
The film festival at Cannes screened a 4 and one half hour movie on Che -- even the real lefties nearly fell asleep.

Che especially liked to shoot the sons of the men he proceeded to execute in front of their fathers. Real piece of work. After Fidel got him out of Cuba, he gave instructions to the south American communists to give no support to Che, "not even an asprin." I suspect even Fidel was sick of him. But Fidel used him as an icon ever since.

It was Obama himself who said the Flag pin was an issue. He defended not wearing it. Now he does. He won't put his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. If he won't pledge allegiance to the US, why does he want to be President?

As with his Church..... he so promptly quit when he got criticism..... he and his wife pledge their allegience to Africa,,,, there was no denying that if you read the website...... he is a hypocrit,,,, and he is racist...... And probably wants to be President to finsish selling America out to Africa instead of China?....
Obama would be the 1st of a lot of things...the first Black President, the first Muslim (yes I know he denies it) President and the first Unpatriotic, Anti-American President...

He has NO MILITARY EXPERIENCE -- does he? he never even tried to serve in the military did he? Wonder how the lefties think he can get us out of a war when he doesn't have a clue what the young men and women are going through -- he never even tried boot camp...Bush and others may have gotten out of serving but at least they survived Boot Camp...
