A request was made to General James T. Conway, Commanding General, Commandant of the Marine Corps, to recognize Don for his service to his country. Don is one of the remaining few survivors of the Bataan Death March...

'The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.'

'When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.'

'And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.'

'An elective despotism was not the government we fought for.' - Thomas Jefferson

A valiant man who fought in a just war.

Too bad so many of our valiant men today were sent to the Neocon Bush League war in Iraq on false pretenses.
Every valiant soldier in the American armed forces since January 1991 has been a volunteer. This includes the administrations of GHW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, and Obama. Not surprisingly, these valiant volunteers disagree with your definition of a “just war” especially since the invasion of Iraq otherwise they wouldn’t have enlisted and continue to re-enlist to serve their country in time of war.

“False pretenses” can be best defined as Lincoln delivering the Emancipation Proclamation 20 months after he refused to withdraw his troops from the sovereign soil of another nation.

It’s apparent you think todays' valiant volunteers are fighting for oil as you believe the Confederate soldier was fighting for slavery.

Unfortunately, most of these volunteer troops were brainwashed into believing such drivel as "Weapons of Mass Destructon" and volunteered on the basis of false information. They have been duped into hazarding life and limb in service to the Neocon warmnongers!

And that "sovereign soil" was never a legitimately constituted "nation." The CSA was a rebellious and lawless enterprise that was unwisely put together and that was destined from the start to fail, and at huge cost of lives and treasure. That war was the gravest error this Nation ever made, and those who still try to glorify it need to get some real sense of history and tragedy.

“Most” veterans were brainwashed? Then how do you explain the trend in voluntary enlistments long after WMDs were not found? And you’ve still not explained those valiant volunteers continuing the trends enlisting and re-enlisting to serve their country in time of war since Obama became POTUS.

How is it you can make any claim for knowing what motivates a member of the armed forces to serve his country?

You have failed to prove Lincoln’s primary objective was to free slaves. So try this one...

Your remarks regarding the CSA are nothing more than regurgitating King George’s opinion of the colonies [and freeing the slaves] during their struggle for independence.

However in the case of the CSA, secession was legal. Prove otherwise.

Easy. The neocons and their warmongering propagandists are very, very good at brainwashing. It persists even through 2 or 3 re-enlistments! They were even able to overcome the exposing of their fabrications about the WMDs. An additional contributing factor is that the young men who enter our armed forces have for the most part matriculated through a so-called "educational system" that failed to teach them how to do critical thinking. They are thus ripe for brainwashing!
