bluesman,
I had that pop up on my pc last night...I thought it was Microsoft warning me of a virus...but when I started to click on it
Microsoft warned me...asking if I trusted it to download...and I wondered why would Microsoft be asking me that if it was from them, and I didn't click on it, but deleted it. Thanks for the
warning.
Hi Blues,

You are, of course, speaking of an e-mail named Antivirus 2009 -- and not the software package -- right?

I recently installed Norton Internet Security 2009 (which includes Antivirus 2009) on my daughter's computer -- and have it on my desk to put on my computer. She does not seem to have any problems with it.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
We've had this on all three computers at home, it is a program that is a link to a web site trying to sell you their virus scan program and it looks a lot like a Microsoft marketed program. It shows up as a red Microsoft type shield in the task bar notification area (the lower right task bar section near the time display). It will say your computer is at risk, look like it's ran a scan and found several viruses, direct you to their web page to purchase their virus program (it may well be a great virus scan program, but their sales tactics suck) and you can't find it in the add/remove programs section to get rid of it. I think MySpace is a major source where it get loaded onto our computer. Here's how I got rid of it. All our computers run Microsoft Vista I'm not sure about XP or other versions.

Click on <Start> <Control Panel> <Windows Defender> <Tools> <Software Explorer> <Show for All Users>
When ask click on <Continue>
Now you have to find the program in the box on the left side, look for unfamiliar programs, you can click on one that looks like it doesen't belong and read the description in the box on the right side. If you find it, delete it, if your not sure disable it and see if everything still works like it should, you may want to restart your computer, if everything is working then follow the same steps and delete it. When I done this the first time I found two or three programs running that I didn't need and I removed them too, seemed to speed my system up some.
It got one of my computers, running Trendmicro antivirus/antispyware and ZoneAlarm...all behind a secured network. The only thing I found to get rid of it was Windows Defender, which came on my new laptop and wasn't on my old desktop. I now run Defender every morning at 3AM just to be sure.

Lucky20, Defender isn't the same as the malicious software removal tool that Microsoft puts out with security updates.

Note: Defender no longer works with operating systems Windows 2000 and older (95/98).
84Dinner---I am now trying to download this. I had a SPYWARE GUARD 2008 pop up on mine when I turned it on this afternoon and it is giving me fits! Do you think this may be the same thing as the ANTIVIRUS 2009?

And just to make me feel better, does the Windows Defender icon look like a little gray castle? I just want to make sure I'm not downloading more bad stuff!!! I did follow your link to get to it though.
