For what reason, I don't know, I decided to give Applebee's a try. When I walked in, the customer in the first booth looked really mad. As we sat down, the manager came over and was talking with him about how the cook had screwed up his order twice. I didn't get all the details. Anyway, after sitting for 10 mins without any wait staff approaching me, one finally showed up. I ordered my drink but then just decided to leave. This was 5pm and there were only 3 tables of people in the whole place. That was there last chance from me.

Rarely try the chains, but had the crab cakes for dinner at Ruby Tuesday's in Madison. They were well seasoned and had little bread -- mostly crab meat. As one who lived on the Chesapeake estuary for 11 years, where crab cakes are a specialty, I was pleasantly surprised. About $13 for one large cake and two sides, plus another cake for $5.
Well wife and myself tried Applebee's Saturday at 3:45pm Parking lot was pretty full we walked in sat right down had drinks on table with in 3to 4 min's 5min's later had appetizer on table and food about 10 min's later service was great and food was teriffic had 3 glasses of tea and never ask for a refill they kept the glass full and that was our 1st time and about 1 1/2 years we will be going back enjoyed it.
We ate at Applebee's last night. The service started a little slow but when we told them that we were had to be somewhere else by a certain time, she shifted into high gear. Took drink order and food order right away. Got food quickly. The food was just great, the most enjoyable we have had in some time. The prices were great, too. Will definately go back soon. Lots of things on their menu. All very reasonably priced.
This is the best place in the Shoals to eat! They have the best happy hour in town. From 3 to 7 they have half price apps and 2.50 well drinks and the apple draft beer is $1.00. There is no other place in town that has better food and drinks! The staff is awesome, mgmt is on top of things and the staff has been there for years. How much can you ask for?

It reminds me of the old show on TV..... Cheers, where everyone knows your name .... if you go more than once a year!
Due to the comments on this thread the wife and I decided to try Applebees again and I'm glad we did. The half price appetizers was a very nice surprise and we took advantage of that also. While Rosie's definitely has the best fajitas there are many things that Applebees does well and we were both satisfied with our last experience there and will be back again.

Far better experience than we had at O'Charleys.
i love the lunch soup/salad special.

they have some decent food, but the service is lacking. we went quite often, mostly because the first time we went, our service was so poor, the manager gave us our meal. we didn't even ask, he just came out when our food (finally) did and apologized. the next THREE times we got free food or free appetizers for having to wait so long. so if ya got plenty of time, give it a try. it really is cheaper in the long run Wink
