How sad. This reflects poorly on Florence. I hope they catch the vandals.
Question: Were these tents just sitting there in the park without any type of security people?
Apparently

Well...then whats the gripe?
Here's their sign...
I've noticed a large increase in vandalism in the Florence area lately, particularly 'tagging' on buildings and signs......
There are two articles. Here is the other one http://www.timesdaily.com/arti...hed-at-arts-festival
quote:Singleton said a member of the Florence Police Department’s ranger organization was patroling the park when the vandalism occurred.
Singleton said the ranger, who was unarmed, reported he saw a man looking into the tents. The suspect left before police could arrive.

Soo….cage, if it’s not yours it’s yours anyway if it’s not locked up?

i think his point was:
if you leave your stuff in the middle of a park, unsecured, of COURSE something bad is going to happen to it.
that's up there with ' if you stick your hand into a basket of snakes, you're going to get bitten' and ' if you drunkenly climb into the panda cage at the zoo after hours, because you thought the panda looked like it needed a hug, you're going to be eaten because a panda is a ******* BEAR."
( look that one up. guy in china did that. and yup, he dead.)
if i left my stuff unattended in the park overnight, then it's my fault that my stuff gets jacked.
i'm sorry that it happened. it makes me sad to know that something like this is so expected to happen that we look at the victim and think... well, duh... what were you thinking?
but regardless, that IS the world we live in and you can try and make sure you don't invite people to make a victim out of you, or.. as cage says... ' here's your sign.'
I agree. It IS the world we live in. If you don't lock it up then you are pretty much asking for it.
Sorta reminds me of the old TV ads from the late '60s wherein someone that didn't lock their car was supposedly encouraging a 'good kid to go bad'....BS. If someone WANTS to steal your car (or any other personal property), whether the car is locked or not makes no difference.
In ANY society are people that LIVE to take advantage of any semblance of 'trust'. Just because YOU wouldn't do anything bad, or illegal. doesn't mean that someone else wouldn't. There is a certain 'entitlement' group of our society that feels that IF they can take something, then it belongs to them. When caught, they feel no remorse for the crime, but rather are sorry that they were caught.

And those are the folks that need to be removed from the gene pool.
