A good man who defended the Constitution to the best of his ability. And now the political games begin.

And those "games" will predictably consist of the GOP members of the Senate Judiciary Committee refusing to send any nomination by the President to the Senate for a full Senate vote. We can anticipate about a full year's vacancy of the position Scalia left.  It will be interesting to see whether the Republicans will reject some nominee who was previously unanimously approved for one of the federal appeals courts. They probably will, and that will show their true obstructionist colors.

I would like to personally thank Harry Reid for changing parliamentary rules in the senate (rules drawn up by Thomas Jefferson to protect the rights of minority parties in the body).  Reid ensured a majority may steam roll minorities in the senate.  When Obamacare was introduced, Reid made certain there could be only limited debate and no amendments to the bill.  He continued that for other bills, as well. Once the Republicans gained control of the House, Reid did not allow hundreds of bills from the House in the hopper or to be sent to committee. In short, why should the Republicans treat the Democrats any different.  When Obama presents his appointee to the Senate, I hope its sent to committee to be considered for a couple of months.  Then, sent to subcommittee for further more detailed debate and review.  The appointee can appear for questioning a few times.  After that, the subcommittee can vote and sent their decision to the committee for debate, review and a vote.  It'll probably be October by then.  After the committee reports to the full body of the Senate, it may be placed in the hopper to be debated by the full body of the Senate. Probably be between Thanksgiving and Christmas recess before that happens.  Then, shortly after New Year's day, the Senate can send Obama their decision -- No!

Noon, 20 January 2017 -- bye- bye to Barack Hussein Obama.
