We pay $63.00 a month for cable and $124.00 a month for telephone and internet service, we're considering switching everything over to the Comcast bundle which is $99.00 a month, what is everyone's opinion of this service from Comcast.

My daughter switched and said not only is she saving money, her internet speed is faster.
I've recently obtained a new, more positive outlook on life. Things are not always as they seem nor as bad as we think they are. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes!

We actually switched from Comcast to AT&T and we are saving well over 100 dollars a month. I only have basic phone line because I work at home, DSL internet and Direct TV. With AT&T we pay around 35 or so a month for the phone and internet..then Direct TV is 65 a month and that includes high definition channels and DVR. We had so many problems with Comcast and their customer service is not that good. Our bills were always higher every month than they were supposed to be. Their internet is fast, but AT&T where I live is just as fast. I didn't have the bundle from Comcast, just the internet and TV...I think the bundle includes phone...right? I haven't heard too much on the phone. I know my husband's grandparents had a few problems with theirs, but nothing major. If you can save money, then go for it. That is what we did.
I just did a comparison of my comcast to direct yesterday, prices are about the same after the 'first year trial offer.' Dont let either of them fool you, $99.00 a month is just the base price. Youll have taxes, fees, etc etc on top of that. Plus, if you have the digital or HD receivers, you have to rent them as well ($16 or $17 for the DVR, $7 for the regular box with the guide), they give you two basic boxes (required now that they are digital) free, but they do nothing at all other than let you watch the cable itself (you used to be able to just plug in your tv, now a box is required for ALL tvs).

Make sure you look at all the small print and extra fees. My $95 or so a month plan is actually $133.00 a month after all the additional fees for cable and internet, NO PHONE.

As for internet, I have the economy from Comcast, 1 Meg download speed, for 24.95 a month, that was comparable with my DSL once upon a time (DSL may be better now.)

But like I said, the competition really isnt any better after the promotional offer. Comcast does the same if you hound them about it, even if you are a current customer.
Hello folks, Yes, I'm new to the forum.
For myself, I'm looking to get away from comcast, for more reasons than I can list here but I'll pick out a few.
They recently made us get boxes for all tv's we wanted to watch. (you can't just plug the cable in any longer) I got one HD and 3 of the DTA. Raised my bill by $7+.(I won't say what I think the DTA stands for) When we picked these up they handed us a paper with the channels highlighted that we'd be getting, listed as "Digital starter package".
You get 3 boxes at no cost. Anything after 3 is $$$$$.-
After a battle that took weeks to get an answer to, I'm told the DTA's don't get all of the channels on that "digital starter" list. There are several that you can't have unless you are willing to pay an extra $6+ per TV per month.
I've looked at the DTA's. All they look like to me is a little digital to analog converter. Mine hooks up to my TV through a cable and the TV must be on channel 3 or 4. That's analog.
I'm paying for the digital starter package but I can only watch it on one tv in my home.
A single TV has all the channels, That single TV has a digital picture, the same TV has an HD picture.
This is costing me over $100 a month for what amounts to the lowest TV package and internet.
The internet is faster but how often do you download large files, 100mg+? And are you in that much of a hurry to get those files in 3 minutes vs 6 minutes? Me, I can wait 10 minutes.
Comcast Support? First thing that comes to mind is, do they have one? But that's not fair. They answer the phone. Most times they'll offer to send someone out in a week or two. Or try to reset that box 14 times first. Lets just say I have nothing good to say about it. I'm talking phone/email/chat. The guys that show up at your door do the best they can with what comcast gives them to work with.
I have TV's/DVR's all over the house. 9 I think. They all worked until comcast said "let there be boxes". Now I have one TV that will actually show the channels I am paying for. And I have to pay extra ($7+/) to get HD on that one TV. Hows that for government mandated HD? I still have the same analog picture on the other TV's. Now it's converted in my home and I pay for the electricity to run the converter. How can anyone call this a deal?

I'm leaning toward dish network. Same channels to 4 TV's? Who's got the story on them?
I'm looking into internet TV but it looks like it's in it's infancy. It's there but very disorganized.

Triker
As far as my digital with Comcast, have not had a good experience. Currently I have the limited basic package, $17 a month, channels 2-13. Picked up three adapters for my tv's and when they were all activated, was missing QVC and C-Span. Plus a couple of new channels I was supposed to get. Spoke with Comcast reps about four times that night trying to get it corrected, including one who I could not understand as she spoke very bad English. Never did happen. Really frustrated next day and disconnected all the digital adapters. The c-span and qvc are back on. Plan to just do without the adapters as long as possible, too many problems Comcast did not correct.
