Roll Tide! I heard John Croyle speak this week. Very moving and inspirational. If you have an opportunity to hear him speak, I highly recommend it. He said that the Big Oak Ranch (that he founded) currently serves as home for approx 100 kids. 26 of these kids currently attend college. Those that attend Auburn are fondly referred to as "mission work".
To preface, I am an Auburn fan.... John Croyle and his family are amazing and do great things. Anyone would be hard pressed to find a more honorable man......
That being said....that was all I was gonna say til I saw the "scared" thing.... Honestly, Bama is tied for the 4th most feared game this season(w/Tennessee)... LSwho, Geawgia, and West Virginey are far scarier games that Bama is for Auburn. I respect history, but leave it where it belongs, buried with the other 29 years since Bama's been considered a power. Talkin current times....Why would Auburn fear a team that's only beaten them once since we rolled into the 21st century???
hey pete, auburn shouldn't fear bama or anyone else, but they should respect them, and everyone else. in the iron bowl, when foolish pride is on the line you can usually throw the records out the window, or not, but certainly put a lot less emphasis on the past.

i'm passionate about college football, and i do think that the best players are in the southeast, but my roots may cause me to be a bit biased toward the region.

29 years I guess you've forgotten 1992/1993 either you forgot or you cant count! How many National championships do your war eagles have? Enough said!

I have a feeling Julio Jones will be in many highlight reels! He seems very promising. And on John Parker Wilson I understand Coach Saban has no problem benching him if another player proves to better at his job. Its all about getting on the field and winning if JP can't bring it someone else will get a chance!

Don't forget 94, we lost one game to Florida by 1 point in the SEC title game that kept us from winning the national championship. We also won the sec title in 1999. What has Auburn won? They claim were nothing but yet BAMA is the only team they can brag about beating. What's Auburn's tradition? I think it's being owned by BAMA.

ROOOOOOOOLLLLLL TIDE ROLL

You ol' timer, the good ol days are gone! Alabama dont have the run on the talent anymore, The bear is gone, Saban is not the Bear, he is a great coach, the current date is 2008. I cant for the life of me understand why everyone wants to compare Saban to the bear, there will never be another Bear. Scholarships are limited, Alabama has good talent, but as far getting it all, it will never happen again! Alabama will rise again, but as far as a run on anything, good luck with that!

It doesn't take a rocket scientest to figure out there will never be another Bear! Thats a no brainer. And I don't think Saban is anything like the Bear nor does he want to be. He is Nick Saban! I've never understood being a War Eagle! But I'm glad your a loyal fan. There are a lot of Aubies who flip flop and support Bama when were at our best. Being a true fan is supporting your team nomatter what. Good luck to your team this season! Your gonna need it!

Alabama doesn't have the run on talent anymore? What rank was Alabama's recruiting class? I will answer it for you, # 1. What rank was Auburn's class? I'll answer that, WHO CARES!

No, I can count, you obviously can't read.... I said it's been that long since Bammie was considered a power. They won the NC in 92 as an underdog and Auburn has 2 undefeated seasons since then and has dominated the Iron Bowl...

"owned by BAMA"??????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that is so precious....hahahahaha... do you even know the Iron Bowl record??? Look it up and you'll see that it isn't indicitive to anyone "owning" anyone. Take out the "tradition rich" Bryant years and Bama is behind my friend. I know and understand the reverance you all have for the Bear....but if you removed the bias and investigated his, and the University of Alabama's tactics during those years you'd be less impressed. I love hearing bammers get mad about what Fulmer did....The bear and his staff made and absolute living on that. Oddly enough, everyone but him seemed to get in trouble back in the day.....I'm sure it's because he ran a perfectly clean program in a time of no scholly restrictions though right??? hahahahaha
Present day people, present day.... bammie lives in Auburn's dust in football.... live with it or agonize over it... your choice.
You folks hung up on recruiting kill me. Auburn's class wasn't ranked high by Rivals.... big freakin deal!!!!
#1. bammie is desperate for starters, Auburn has one of the deepest teams in the country.... if you are a so called 5 or 4 star guy who wants to start right away, who would you choose??

#2. Auburn will have just as many, if not more ALL SEC players from the 08 class as bammie will. Auburn sends 2 and 3 star guys to the NFL, bammie sends 4 and 5 star guys to prison.

#3. How devistated will ya'll be when Auburn wins the Iron Bowl for the 7th time in a row, then ranks higher than bammie in recruiting for next year?(which is what it's lookin like right now)

Bottom line, good coaches can scout talent... great coaches can scout talent AND develop that talent to the NFL level. Tubbs has done as good a job of that as anyone during his 10 years in Auburn....and that train is gonna keep on rollin...with a stop in T-Town this year for a win in the Tigers' home away from home.

War Eagle!!!!

First, you stated 29 years not a long time. The first undefeated season they were on probation, go figure. The second season was so impressive they weren't even chosen to play for the national championship. We were talking tradition, so that would include the Byrant years. So, Auburn's tradition would be getting owned by Bama. How many SEC and National titles does Auburn have? I rest my case!

Your talking about clean programs. Did you forget the information below.

Eric Ramsey was a defensive back for Auburn University's football team in the early 1990s who used a tape recorder to secretly record conversations between his football coaches and Booster "Corky" Frost regarding an illicit player payment scheme. Ramsey's allegations also included racist practices at Auburn, including disapproval of inter-racial dating in the community and segregation of black and white players in the resident athletic dorm. After his tapes were revealed, Auburn received strict penalties and probation for the sixth time in the schools history. This scandal prompted Coach Pat Dye's resignation and preceded the hiring of Samford University football coach Terry Bowden. Bowden would later allege that the pay for play scheme continued during the first part of his tenure as coach, and his disruption of the practice ultimately led to his resignation

I think I was too polite in my post, because I stated bama was going to have a good program, once again, but apparently that is not the way it was took!

as far as bama owning auburn <<<<<<<<< I think the all-time Iron Bowl record is 38-32-1 in favor of bama. now that is dominace! as to any question about Auburn only winning 1 or 2 sec titles, then you are wrong Auburn has won 6 SEC titles. and 2 Heisman Winners, 1 National title. I am glad that bama has 12 titles. now tell me how many they have won, since changing the scholarship's that one school can offer, or since that they have added a SEC championship game. Bear was great at getting kids in his program. but that has changed.

The University of Alabama football program is the most nationally-known of all Alabama's intercollegiate athletics programs. Started in 1892, it is one of the oldest and most tradition-rich football programs in the country. The team has won 21 SEC titles and 12 national championships in major polls (including 6 awarded by the Associated Press and 5 by the Coaches Poll).[12] Additionally, the team has compiled 31 10-win seasons and 55 bowl appearances, winning 32 of them – all NCAA records. Alabama has produced 18 hall-of-famers (Paul "Bear" Bryant, Harry Gilmer, Johnny Mack Brown, Johnny Cain, John Hannah, Frank Howard, Pooley Hubert, Lee Roy Jordan, Dixie Howell, Don Hutson, Vaughn Mancha, Johnny Musso, Joe Namath, Ozzie Newsome, Billy Neighbors, Fred Sington, Wallace Wade, Don Whitmire) and 91 All-Americans honored 101 times

Alabama has played in 5 SEC Title games since it's inception. They have won 2 of those games resulting in 2 SEC Titles. The University of Arkansas was the only team other than Bama and Florida to play in the first 4 SEC Title games.

Auburn has played in 3 SEC Titles games while only claiming 1 SEC Title. Does that answer your questions?
2 in 5 record! about like 1 in 3!
DOMINACE!

The Tigers played the first football game in the Deep South in 1892, with the program's first bowl appearance coming the 1936 season in the sixth Bacardi Bowl played in Havana, Cuba. Former Auburn head coaches have included College Football Hall of Fame members John Heisman, Mike Donahue, Ralph "Shug" Jordan, and Pat Dye. As of 2006, AU Football has had 76 winning seasons, 33 bowl appearances, twenty-three 9+ win seasons, eleven undefeated seasons and ten conference championships. Auburn has played in the Southeastern Conference since its inception in 1933 and have won six SEC Conference Championships, and since the divisional realignment of the conference in 1992, six Western Division championships[1] and three trips to the SEC Championship game.

RB'S
Auburn has a reputation of being one of the premier running back factories in the nation, with many former Tigers currently playing that position on Sundays in the NFL: Kenny Irons (Cincinnati Bengals RB), Ronnie Brown (Miami Dolphins RB), Cadillac Williams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB), Brandon Jacobs (New York Giants RB), Heath Evans (New England Patriots FB), Rudi Johnson (Cincinnati Bengals RB), Fred Beasley (Washington Redskins FB), Stephen Davis (St. Louis Rams RB), Harold Morrow (Arizona Cardinals FB) and Tony Richardson (Minnesota Vikings FB). They carry on a long legacy of top NFL backs from Auburn such as Tucker Frederickson, William Andrews, Joe Cribbs, James Brooks, Lionel James, Brent Fullwood, Tommie Agee and Bo Jackson. Over the last 20 years (1987-2007 Draft), there have been 15 Tiger running backs drafted into the NFL, with several more successfully signing as undrafted free-agents. This tradition of producing successful NFL backs looks to continue as Auburn continually recruits top-rated backs, with several current Auburn runners (such as Brad Lester, Ben Tate, Mario Fannin and Tristan Davis) looking to continue on the history of success of Auburn running backs in the near future.

There have been 237 Auburn players drafted into the National Football League, with 15 earning 30 All-Pro honors and 23 playing in Super Bowls. Auburn linebacker Mike Kolen was a member of the 1972 "No-Name Defense" that led the Miami Dolphins to the only perfect season in NFL history. More recently, Auburn had five players picked in the 2005 NFL Draft with four going in the top 25. Ronnie Brown went 2nd to the Miami Dolphins, while his running mate, Carnell Williams went 5th to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carlos Rogers went 9th and Jason Campbell went 25th - both were picked by the Washington Redskins. Jay Ratliff was picked in the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys. Four Auburn players were selected in the 2006 NFL Draft. Highly touted offensive tackle Marcus McNeill went to the San Diego Chargers in the second round. Stanley McClover was picked in the seventh round by the Carolina Panthers, as were receivers Devin Aromashodu by the Miami Dolphins and Ben Obomanu by the Seattle Seahawks. A third receiver, Anthony Mix, was also signed as a free-agent by the New York Giants.

Five more Tigers joined the NFL ranks in the 2007 NFL Draft, including the Irons brothers (Kenny Irons selected in the 2nd round by the Cincinnati Bengals and David Irons selected in the 6th round by the Atlanta Falcons). Ben Grubbs was the first offensive guard taken, selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round. Rounding out the Tigers in the Draft, Will Herring was taken in the 5th round and Courtney Taylor in the 6th, both selected by the Seattle Seahawks. Auburn is tied (with Miami) for second most Top 5 NFL Draft picks this decade. The Plains have produced 25 first round draft picks over the years. The Dow Jones College-Football Success Index ranked Auburn as the eighth best program in the nation, with the second highest Draft Value which indicate "that a school's players perform better than NFL scouts seem to expect".

But wait, What do you call an Aubrun player with a National Championship Ring???????

BTW Auburn should also be concerned about Southern Mississippi, they can play a tough ballgame and should not be underestimated.
Bama may not go undefeated this year, I don't think anyone expects that, but the climate at Tuscaloosa, and the enthusiams is certainly much better than it was three years ago.
Here's to a great season of college football. Let's hope there are no serious injuries on either side.....
Roll Tide!!!!
