That was a head-scratcher. I don't think its a good idea to NOT give a coach a job because he is black but I also believe its not a good idea to give the coaching job to someone because he IS black. It's hard to judge Gill's credentials because he hasn't really coached at or against high profile schools. I'm sure he will get his chances and I'd like to see him make the most of them. I watched him play against Auburn back in 1982. I'm sure most Auburn people would like to see him at QB! If he can coach the way he played, he will have no problem.
Well, I think Barkley shows just what an education while playing sports at the barn is worth. He was too busy counting his money from the alumni and dealing for a new automobile to do any book learning. Everyone knows the barn pays their big name athletes well. Even the assistant coaches wives know they all get a couple hundred bucks in their pockets....LOL

WOW!!! Excuse me, I just saw your pic!
The strange thing about Charles is he seems to get dumber day-by-day. Is that some kind of delayed educational process they used on him?

Ah yes, an eternal optimist that loves to think that their school would never pay anyone... hahaha. I love Auburn football so much that it's in my top ten all time... however, I am not foolish enough to think that shady things happen on the plains from time to time... and if you think tuscaloser is any better then you are quite nieve.... Wink

As for the Barkley thing... This was just an idiotic statement by him that has now turned into an idiotic attack on Auburn by the media.... case in point
Syracuse interviewed Gill and he was their 3rd choice... why no uprising against them...
Tennesse, Mississippi State, and Clemson, all in the south, didn't even INTERVIEW a black coach.... yet no uprising against them...
This should be one thing even the bammers support us on after what ya'll went through with Croom. That was a case of hiring a guy with all the same connections and creds, but Bama chose the white guy over the black guy... But I never bashed em... they chose Shula for a reason and it's no one's place to accuse racism... it's idiotic!!!

Turner Gill has looked promising at the level he has coached on but I would like to pose the question that no one ever does. If Gill was white, would he even be on a major power's radar? Just as you shouldn't deny someone a job because of their skin color, you shouldn't reward them just because of their skin color. Maybe Gill should get a shot at a lower level program like Notre Dame before shooting for the big time.
