Well, Braves baseball is here at last. Atlanta should be a much improved team this year. Derrick Lowe and Javier Vasquez are the real deal. Also look out for rookie CF Jordan Schafer who is a great improvement from last year. With the Chip and McCanns powering the way it only look optimistic.

Schafer is the real deal, we'll just have to see how he holds up down the stretch of a longer season than he has ever played (let's hope it matters!).

Lowe and Vazquez are huge upgrades, and I think Kawakami will be a decent mid-rotation guy. I have Jurrjens on my rotisserie team and I don't plan on letting him go anytime soon. Best staff they've had in a long time.

If Garrett Anderson and Francouer can pull their weight it should be a good year. Too bad there are so many good teams concentrated in the same division.

A couple of years ago I went ice-fishing in Michigan and stayed in a cabin owned by Smoltz's aunt. A couple of months later her husband came to AL on a fishing trip and brought me a signed Smoltz card that is not a regular baseball card - it is a personal card he had made with his favorite Bible verse and personal info on the back. He said he told "Little Johnny" that he had met a big fan so Smotz signed and sent the card. Classy.

Needless to say it has a prominent place in my office.

Just doesn't seem right, him not being a Brave, ya know...
