Does anyone here have a GOOD recipe for BBQ sauce??? I don't mean the red kinds like you can buy in a grocery store, I mean homemade sauce.

I used to have a great, spicy (not hot) recipe' made with Seven-UP, and it was so good!!! But I lost it somewhere... I will probably be 75 before I find it! LOL

KS,
This is for you. And no, there was no trolling involved in the posting of this recipe for you. (Mainly because I'm not one.) Wink Eeker

7-Up Barbecue Sauce

1 can 7-Up (**See Note Below)
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon brown sugar*
(*or a Tablespoon of brown sugar, if you like it sweeter)
1 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 Teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/4 Teaspoon celery seed
1/4 cup onion, chopped
Dash of pepper
(*Optional: 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard)

Mix all ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes. Baste meat frequently as it cooks.

*Note: Older recipes for this 7-Up sauce called for a bottle of 7-up, which was only about 7 or 8 ounces (compared to the 12 oz. can). You might want to start with 2/3 of a can and add more after simmering until you get it the consistency you like.

It's important to use the clasic formula because the aspertain in the diet colas will make it bitter.
