If you are so careless as to walk away w/o the merchandise you paid for, at any store, you are the one with the problem, not the store.
Unless you are less than 3' tall, you can easily see the bags on the opposite side of the carousel.
The carousels were designed for speed, not deception.
More unnecessary advice from Betern. Even the hated Sarah Palin wouldn't be that puerile.

I thought more of you than this, a post like this is more along the lines of something that WH would post. Lets see:

"At another Wal-Mart location the customer 'service' desk showed me a log-book of these left-behind items. It was full of literally thousands of notations with description of the product that were 'forgotten' by the consumers. Who wins? The consumer? Never!"

Why would they log it if they were trying to cheat you? That would be proof of the scam. I'll tell you why they log it, so when people come back to say they forgot something, they can go back and check. And some of them dont even do that. Ill give you an example:

My wife and I were shopping once, got home and unpacked everything and couldnt find an item we bought. Checked the receipt, sure enough it was there. So I called to store to see if I left it. Muscle Shoals said they hadn't seen it, but if I brought my receipt in they would let me get another (I dont remember what it was but it was worth less than $10.00). I went to the store and got another, only to find out later that it had rolled out of the bag and under the seat of my car. I felt like an idiot when I took it back to the store, but I felt good about the fact that Walmart didnt ask any questions over an item that was worth less than 10 bucks.

Now why would they purposely keep your items just to give them away for the sake of customer service? Those bag racks are designed for speed. Only someone with an axe to grind would say any different....

I have made quite an impression on you haven't I? Do you suffer from short man syndrome or something? Big Grin

seriously though...you should question why you obsess over anonymous internet posters. Wink

Obsess? Dont flatter yourself. Every 'family' has that one person the the rest know is beyond hope and they put up with that person just because they have to.

Whats it like to be that person here in our little forum 'family.' Its apparent in many threads that there is no one here that cares much about your opinion. But dont worry, you can always create another id to come in and agree with you. I hear that is your m.o. anyway.....

The majority of this family is queers and liberals...I take pride in not being a part of it. Big Grin you are not fooling anyone either. You are one of the booted ones yourself, just being a hypocrite about it. Roll Eyes

I am 5'1" tall. I cannot see the back of the carousel. beterU gets attacked over nothing this time. I do like to be served by the same cashier. Obviously this problem has been of some concern to people or the article would not have been written! Wait for a good reason to attack beterU! Some people on the forum would attack beterU if he quoted the 23rd Psalm word perfect from the KJV.
Okay EM,

I find it hard to believe you can't see it, but I'll take your word for it. But you can take a step or two to the side and look.

The article was written and Betern posted it because they hate W/Mart.

99% of his posts are worth criticizing. No one would attack him for posting the 23rd Psalm,(other than atheists and the like). We might respond to his commentary, though.

Remember, he's the guy who corrects spelling and grammar, while in the same post, making his own typos.

There is almost ALWAYS good reason to criticize him. Just take a look back at the product of his previous posts.

If you think the majority of this family is queers and liberals, what are you doing here?

Jeepin is no hypocrite!!
All you attack dawgs out there, please note--all I said was this:

"Pay attention--be sure you get all your stuff when you check out."

You are at liberty to draw your own conclusions about the article I posted, but those of you who prefer to respond by getting your panties in a wad and unloading your venom on me, feel free to be silly, if it makes you feel better.

Good grief!

True dat Wink

I've left stuff behind and I usually pay attention to stuff like that. Most of us just wanna get the heck outta there so we just glance at the carousel and sometimes I guess just miss something.

I got a cashier who must've been a street-hustler or something once, 'cause she loaded and spun that thing around so fast I probably looked like I was trying to play the Shell Game guessing where the stuff I saw a second ago went to.

The website's bias is so obvious from the very beginning of the story.

Learn to read and to choose words corrrectly. In posting the article, I did not "assert" that Walmart was ripping folks off on purpose or otherwise. To "assert" is to "state positively; affirm; aver." (Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary).I asserted only that people shopping at Walmart should be certain to have all the stuff they purchased before leaving the store.

As a matter of correct word choice, you might have alleged that I "implied" Walmart was ripping folks off. Whatever the case, I left it to readers to read the article and draw their own conclusions.

It's not reasonable to say someone 'obsessed' when they answered your post. You took the time to post it and he commented on it. That's how this works.

What I don't like is when they start scanning and bagging the next person's stuff before I have all mine off the carousel.

On another note: I purchased some "fresh" salmon at a Wal-Mart store; it was stinking rotten when I opened the package, so I froze it before returning it the next day (to prevent smells in my refrigerator). i returned it the next day, but the following day I went back to the store for another reason and observed that another customer was returning the EXACT (!!!) same package I had returned 2 days before. Obviously, instead of doing the right thing, they simply put new cellophane wrap on my package and put it back on the shelf.

How did the author of this ripoff report know that it was the "EXACT" same package he had returned? I like reading 'ripoff report' but I'm not buying this one...
Things are looking up. Went to Wally World in Russellville Friday. Changed my mind and went to Foodland, place was packed, no parking except far away at the end of the lot. Makes me feel good because folks are going somewhere else
besides Walmart. They are getting tiresome with their buyers sending stuff not related to this area. I think they are getting a little gunshy.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks Semi! Just another post that proves what everyone thinks of WH. Just here to cause trouble, no other reason.

Those who don't shop elsewhere do not realize how relatively few products are offered for sale in Walmart's grocery section. Their goal is to move the maximum amount of merchandise as quickly as possible and thus maximize profit to the uttermost. Thus, ther is little room for specialty products or less-common varieties on Walmart's shelves. If we had a Publix here, people could readily see the difference and Walmart kust might be forced to add product lines in order to compete. As it is, all too many Walmart patrons just shop like sheep and take what is there and never concern themselves about what is not available because they don't realize how meager the offerings are at Walmart.

Wal Mart is really good at calculating the 'profit per square inch' of their products (the amount of profit they make off a square inch of shelf space). So, if something is only profitable locally, it doesnt usually last long.

Sad but true.....

I'm not a Walmart supporter, but I don't agree with the article. If it was true, it would basically mean that they train their employees to try and get customers to forget their items. Highly doubtful! As someone said, they log the items that are turned in to customer service. I'm sure many bags get given (accidentally) to the next customer in line. Walmart has its faults, but I don't think they're guilty this time. (And this isn't attacking the person who started this post, it's simply my opinion.)

Just what do you expect a business to do? its not "sad'...its good business sense.

Not true betern. We have Publix all over the place down here and Walmart is pretty much the same as it is everywhere. But yes, you can sometimes get better deals at the local grocery stores if you can catch stuff on sale.

I hate going to Walmart because many of the customers are annoying - parking the carts in the middle of the aisles, cutting me off, etc. I've always found the staff pretty helpful.

BTW, those carousel baggage things are pretty common down here in all sorts of stores.

Its sad because Walmart no longer has the ability to serve their local markets because they look at overall numbers. Serving a local market brings in more customers who would more than likely shop at local grocery stores (as many here have said they do).

What exactly is "sad" about it?

I think it is safe to say ,Walmart has gotten this far without your help...they just may survive a little while longer without it too Big Grin

Its called good business sense...duh!

ahhh... no problem. I just thought it was funny, an internet forum poster trying to give Walmart advice as to how to run their business. Big Grin
My mom has done it twice in about 2 years. She will usually call me and get me to go by there and retreive the items for her.

I've been behind people checking out who walk off and leave stuff many many times and not just at Wal Mart. Sometimes the cashier will catch them before they get to their car and tell them. Two of the times it was at Dollar General In Russellville.

I make a habit of always checking the carousel to make sure I have what I bought before walking out of the store.
