I would never have thought that you could possibly exceed the extremities of irrelevancy you have demonstrated on this forum, Jackass Flash.  But with this latest post of yours, you have proven me wrong.

For crying out loud beternnun, they don't hold any more festivals, parades, or shows of any "perversion" any more than straight people! Not as much as a matter of fact. You really need to get over it. Straight people are always yapping about being left alone too, then they put their crap out in public in everyone's face, way worse than any gay person has ever done. Think of all the shows on TV now days, think of the movies, think of music videos, heck, think of the commercials. Straight people and their perversions. Get after them for a while. How about mardi gras where straight women and teens show their boobs for a stinking little plastic necklace and get so drunk they can't walk? Imagine the straight perversions that go on there, we've already mentioned spring break. Add sturgis to that list. The list that could go on and on.

One of the main reasons gay people are so misunderstood is because they have been hidden and "in the closet" forever. A stigma exists against them that is unwarranted and unfounded. Getting your voice heard and establishing a visible presence and by demonstrating that you are just a regular citizen changes opinions and creates visibility. The reason that straight people are not having festivals is because they have no need to - they are not being discriminated against.

If the reason for the public parades and festivals is to gain support and get rid of the stigmas, I would venture that it may result in the opposite. Nobody likes sexuality in their faces.... Just my opinion

Yes, that is partially true. Another reason is just to celebrate openly after being oprressed for so long. There are varying reasons.

 

I don't like sexuality flaunted either, but I have to deal with straight sexuality in my face just about every time I turn the TV on.

 

Let me add, this may not be festivals, but it goes on every day, hundreds of times, all over the country, and contests are held, even for kids.

Yes I would, and did. I don't like any celebrations of sexuality- homo or Herero. I am a private person and think these matter should be private. Not paraded on the street, no festivals, etc. As I said earlier, I feel those demonstrative events to be off putting to would-be sympathizers. But that's just my opinion. ;-)
