Let's face it. You might love good food, but sometimes you're just in a hurry. You need a drive-thru. Or you want a playground for the kids while you eat. Share the good, the bad, and the ugly of your experiences with fast food restaurants. Remember, not every location with the same "name" is the same! What places do you frequent, and what ones do you avoid?

The Pure Station at the traffic light in Killen ,I like the box of 2 slices of Pizza's.

McDonalds every where except North Florenc.

Ricks BBQ.

Wendy's on Cox Creek Parkway , I love their chili.

I also love Wendy's frosty's.

I like Sonic's peanut butter milk shakes.

i like Jacks strawberry milk shakes.

Chick-fil-A drive thru on Cox Creek Parkway.

Fish or shrimp plate at Swamp John's (drive thru) in Muscle Shoals.

Taco Bells.

I hope this is what you wanted. Now what's yours. Smiler

I think I've said enough now. Now I'm starving. Frowner
For breakfast, you can't beat Jack's on Cloverdale Road (a.k.a. Wood Avenue) just north of Cox Creek Parkway.

Their biscuits are fresh, the food is seasoned just right, the portions are huge, and the price is right. If you go in on a Saturday, especially, you'll find it packed with older folks. They know a good breakfast when they see one!

The biscuits - anyway you want them - are great. Try the biscuits and gravy, or order it however. They also have a big breakfast meal you can order which has some of everything (biscuit & gravy, eggs, sausage or bacon, grits, and so on).

If you go the drive-thru option, it will be a bit quicker. I would caution that they sometimes don't give me exactly what I ordered, but so far they've just given me what I ordered and THEN SOME at the same charge. Last week we got an extra order of hash browns. The week before, we found an extra biscuit in the bottom. Not bad!
When we are in a rush, we will grab the steamer pack at Krystals. I think about 13$'s for 24 Krystals. Call ahead orders at Sweet Pepper's Deli and then go to Gatman Park in Muscle Shoals to the new playground area, it's very nice. If my daughter and I are shopping, we like The Wok (I believe that's what the Chinese place is called there??) in Regency Mall. We all love Zaxby's! That's the kids favorite fast food place in Florence. Love Stagg's cheeseburgers too.

Tell me about Sweet Peppers Deli. Is it sort of like subways and Quizno ? Their food is not hot and spicy is it?

NOTE: I don't mean hot from cooking.

What do they that's good ?

Sweet Pepper's Deli

I usually get the smoked cheddar melt. That's my favorite. The only thing is their prices are on the high side, but ordering half the sandwich or not ordering chips and rotel, things like that will cut the price. If it's just me and my husband eating, we'll order one whole sandwich/chips and two drinks. They'll bring an extra plate to the table. I see lots of people doing this too. They also have chili and baked potatoes. I've heard many people comment on how good their loaded nachos were. They have a nice dessert selection if you have room for it.
At the start of this thread, I mentioned that not all locations with the same name are the same. Take McDonald's as an example. I suppose we all end up at one eventually.

If you want fast, friendly, accurate service and reasonably tasty, well-prepared food (or at least as good as a fast food chain like McDonald's can do), then try the Cloverdale Road location. It's just north of Cox Creek Parkway on Wood Avenue/Cloverdale Road - way before Petersville.

On the other hand, you could try the one at the 7-points intersection in North Florence. There, you're likely to first experience an unpleasent (or just exhausted and over-worked) cashier, and you'll have to double-check that you got the correct amount of change back. When you finally get your food, you can expect it to be someone else's order. If you were in the drive-thru, it's gonna take awhile to fix things. Eventually, you can settle down with your food as you wonder how something so simple to make could be prepared that way! Smiler I once tried to console myself with the coffee: it was cold. Frowner

I don't know if it's the name or the look of the place, but I haven't been able to muster up the courage to eat there. Have you?

We ate there a few times... good food. The pepper steak was very good. But,... after telling a friend about it, he said he'd never eat there. When i asked why not, his reply was that he had a friend that was a health inspector that told him about the place. He would not go into details about what he had been told. I havent been back. So take that for what its worth.

You are exactly right..... before you leave the drive through, check your order and change at the North Florence Mickie D's.

I've been there numerous times and have never had a bad experience. I've always called ahead and picked up my order at the drive-thru. They have their rating posted by the window and I recall that it wasn't bad at all. The food is comparable to Peking and other Chinese restaurants in the area. They all seem to taste about the same to me.

dogmaster, I have been to Sweet Peppers a lot of times, and I love their food!! I would take that over Quiznos...

And you have the options of "spicy" (HOT) or not... that is one thing I like about it, but they have so many different selections that it is unreal... and I love their loaded baked potatoes... I can get one of those, eat dinner, and then have enough left to take to work with me the next day... even at 2 meals off of it I still end up not being able to eat it all, lol.

Krystals are pretty good... but they are getting too pricy for what they DO sell... My family likes the cheese Krystals, and it is just as cheap to get a cheeseburger somewhere else and it be full sized too, lol...

McDonalds new Spicy Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap is good, I like that very much, AND the fact that they serve UN-sweetened Tea too... Smiler

Sonic has good food, easy access but you need to check your order if you go through the drive-thru... they do mess up sometimes... I guess like they all do... lol

True, they are a bit pricey, but I like their loaded potatoes, and it always does me for 2 meals, so that is less than 3.25 per meal, tax and all... same with most of their sandwiched, they are HUGE, and I can save half for another meal... so virtually, for me and my family we can actually come out CHEAPER there than so-called FAST FOOD....

And if you call ahead, they have the GO-ORDER parking lots... and the girls will help you out with your order, if you need it.

I have gotten take out there several times. I always get the General Tso chicken over steamed rice. It's as good as any of the oriental places I've eaten in the shoals. My wife also likes their food and has had several different dishes. Prices are about $5.00 per serving so it's reasonable. I would give it about 3 out of 5
In response to Wok-N-Roll: I have eaten there several times and it is always good. Shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken, spring roll, lo mein, General Tso are all good items. If there was a problem with the health inspection, the number on the wall does not show that. If I remember correctly, it was low 90's. Check some of the other scores in the area say Cracker Barrel for instance...
Well, this is one thread that is pretty fun to talk about. As far as places to eat, the quad cities has alot to offer. If you havent tried lennys sub shop in muscle shoals, it is a good place, lots of meat and high quality cheese. And who ever said something about popeyes chicken, i agree, its always second to none, the best chicken place in the area. Better biscouits and mashed potatoes and gravy and checken than kentucky fried. Also, i have enjoyed several sandwiches over at sweet peppers deli. The crossant bread is the best on any sandwich, and they have a dill pickle spear and chips or potato salad with every order. Another note on breakfast, staggs has a fantastic biscuit. Sonics bacon egg and cheese breakfast toaster is realy good. But, the hardees on cox creek is the best location to get a sausage biscuit. I would not advise going to soneys breakfast bar. I could talk food all day!
