Well, after the fried chicken that comes out of my sweetie's frying pan, a distant second is Popeye's.

I do love the crunchy bits in the bottom of the bucket from KFC's extra-crispy style, but the chicken itself is meh.

Of course, if anyone has a tip on good old down-home fried chicken from a local, non-chain restaurant, I'd be more than willing to confirm or dispute your evaluation! Smiler
I agree with the post that say Popeyes is the best. The thing I don't like about Popeyes is that they aren't very customer friendly when it comes to substitution. If you want two legs instead of a leg and a thigh then it cost you more. If you want gravy on your rice then it cost you more. Taste wise though they can't be beat.

Don't know if anyone remembers it but I always thought that Hardee's Fried Chicken was good and actually Krystal had good fried Chicken several years ago but both cancelled that selection from their menus. Hardee's also had great Roast Beef ( I thought ) and I hate that it went the way of the Fried Chicken.
Popeyes has the worst service of all chicken places. About 2 weeks after my last visit there, a man went in and pulled a gun on them. I knew exactly how he felt. I waited 20 minutes in the drive through and saw some boxes on the counter while the employees stood around and jabber-jawed with each other. I finally got out and went in and asked for my money back. They tried to give me those boxes on the counter and I demanded the money back and have not, will not go back there.
I like Zaxby's but they are chintzy with their sauce and they think a lot of their chicken. I keep going back though.
Although you can't get it anymore I liked Hardees Fried Chicken when they had it and actually Krystal had a good Fried Chicken many years ago also but I have to also cast my vote for Popeyes.

If you are looking for Chicken tenders then don't forget New Orleans Transfer, since Court Street closed (who my wife like best) she likes New Orleans Transfer now.

You can still get the chicken tenders and honey mustard that was so tasty at Court Street. Go to Ricatonis and order the Tempura Chicken with Honey Mustard. I promise it will look and taste real familiar (comes with shoe string fries)...hmmmm wonder why that is?LOL
