You'll never find a better joke than Republicans and their attempt to turn Trump into a Biblical figure.

Michele Bachmann has long been an outspoken proponent of Christian values in American life.

Now the former congresswoman from Minnesota believes those values have no greater champion than President Donald Trump.

Bachmann, who was a Republican presidential candidate in 2012, said during an interview Saturday that "Donald Trump has had the courage and the fortitude" to stand up "where other Republicans wouldn't dare to stand up."

"He is highly biblical, and I would say to your listeners, we will in all likelihood never see a more godly, biblical president again in our lifetime," she said on the Olive Tree Ministries' radio show "Understanding the Times."

"So we need to be not only praying for him, we need to support him, in my opinion, in every possible way that we can."

As evidence of Trump's biblical credentials, Bachmann cited the president's defense of religious freedom and Christians who have been persecuted overseas; his support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's policies and his restrictions on transgender troops serving in the military.

She also said Trump "has done more to advance the pro-life movement and the pro-life cause than any other president has ever done."

Bachmann said that Trump has accomplished more than President Ronald Reagan – pointing to deregulation and a booming economy – and said he did it all with the "two-ton weight" of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling hanging over him.

She painted the Mueller probe as part of a conspiracy by Obama administration officials and the Clinton campaign to sabotage Trump's presidency.

Jan Markell, the host of "Understanding the Times," said she believes that liberals are bent on "spreading the wealth, ridding the country of faith and freedom," and want to turn the country "over to godless atheists." She says were are in the "end times" foretold in the Bible.

Bachmann added that Trump is "advancing the prophecy clock" with his support for Israel, particularly his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Bachmann, a regular on "Understanding the Times," is scheduled for another interview with Markell this weekend.
