If your ever in the starkfield/columbus mississippi area Old Hickory Steakhouse is fantastic. Its been run by the same family for years & as u step in the door u have to walk past the grilling area.Excellent prices but if u dont mind high dollar The Golden Horn has the best out of all mentioned here.I grew up going to dales, DONT ask 4 steak sauce at Georges,it offends the cook & rightly so.On 2nd thought mine at home are pretty awesome.Old family recipe, guess i,d be willing to share.Yall kno whats cooking 2nite.Dang prices on meat, grr who started this forum?!!
I've been meaning to try George's so many YES's to this confirms I will have to get some money together and treat myself!

I'm not a fan of Dale Sauce, so I wasn't a fan of the steak at Dale's either.

I'm a huge fan of worcestershire sauce on steaks, it's WAY better than Dale's salty over done flavor to me.

Although I'm very intrigued about the lemon juice on a warm steak, I might have to try that!

Some of the best steaks I have had have been at Dale's.
Some of the worse steaks I have had have been at Dale's.

I'm just too old to gamble on steaks anymore. Even Georges was not too good last time I went. McQuires, Texas Roadhouse, and Outback now.
They are all pretty consistant.
Actually, I usually get Prime Rib anyway instead of a steak. Hell, I can cook a good steak at home.
I know this thread has drifted a bit from Texas Roadhouse but I wanted everyone to know what a GREAT job they did for me and my wife this evening.
We rarely get the opportunity to eat out together and finally did this weekend and chose Roadhouse.
The service; although very predictable Corporate with all of the upsell attempts, was still very prompt and we got the feeling of geniune concern for taking good care of us.
My wife asked about the baked beans and the server immediately brought us a sample! My wife did not like them but I loved them. Our appetizer was served fast and the salads were crisp and fresh. The caesar salad could have used a tad more dressing though.
I got the ribs and my wife got the filet. My ribs were fantastic, but my wife's filet was 2 toned (burnt on one side and barely cooked on the other) and way overcooked. She didn't want to say anything but the server promptly checked back and asked so I showed her. We were not pissed just disappointed.
She immediately offered a new one and we declined because we had somewhere to go soon. She still took it upon herself to have the kitchen cook another and have it boxed for us to take. That was a great answer for us, but then the kitchen manager or expo came out and personally apologized and wanted to ensure we were satisfied. The steak he brought out was perfect! Not only that they also gave us replacement side dishes. He also said they were taking it all off of the bill!
We were fully content to pay for the good steak.
It was a busy night and despite that they made us feel like we were the only customers they had all night.
It was our first time eating there and now will definitely not be our last time.

Neither Georges nor Dales are as good as they once were. On topic, my LOCAL pick would be Stanfield's at Ford City or Rogersville.
I agree that Legends has some of the Best Prime Rib in the area and also great baked potatoes and a great salad bar. As for Ribeyes or Filet I would choose Georges, Crocodiles ed's and Dales .. in that order. Longhorn Steakhouse is also a great place for steaks but the closest one is Huntsville.
No one place can please everybody but I would have to say Dale's is the best around the Shoals area and if you want your steak without Dale's seasoning it doesn't seem to hurt their feelings to do so. Basically you will get a high quality cut of meat grilled to order every time. In all fairness I have never been to George's but since moving to Colbert County I plan to give them a try sometime in the near future.
