Does anyone find it odd that the person that most destains "religion" has doubled his nearest competitor in # of posts in the "Religion" section here @ the Times Daily forums? If a Christian posted as many times as him, he'd be posting back saying that person was a Bible thumper, or that they were beating us all over the head with the Bible, or that they were forcing their views on us all.... But when he bangs his chest, speaking of his religion til he is blue in the face it's ok.
Why is that? Why is it the one's who hate God and Christ and all that comes with it....why are they the ones who try to force their view on others? That's what many athiests say is the biggest turn off of "religion". The whole forcing you views on others thing....when did this happen? Have their always been these "evangelical athiests" or are they newbies?
For athiests to think they are enlightened because they are without religion, but contiue to post on any religious topic explaining the point of view from their religion is......well, can you say ironic.....

I can't speak for whomever you are referring to in your post but, personally, I simply find it intellectually stimulating.

Watching the fundamentalists feebly attempt to writhe, slither and lie their way out of blatant contradictions and fallacies is endlessly fascinating to witness.

The hope that I might help bring someone out of the false hope of fundamentalism and introduce them the light of reason is just a side benefit.
Peter, religious and political beliefs are a lot alike.

That's why there is so much passion and/or critique.

If you see people obviously making a mistake, you point it out.

One of the challenges is that there is a ton of distraction and misinformation and cutting through that is difficult.

Asking someone a disturbing question is a pretty direct way of drawing attention.

As to why the person known or unknown to whom the OP refers, perhaps he or she enjoys ridiculing or else finds that certitude in religious matters to the exclusion of any other possibility is one step to the lighting of the witch pyres. Perhaps in question is absolutely abhorred by certain elements of a theistic society, especially that made under the form of religious fundamentalism and the fact that there are organized groups who seek to usurp the powers of the people as reserved and/or protected under the Constitution for their own belief systems. Perhaps they are students of the Cult of Reason and is an overt or crypto-Jacobin? Perhaps it is merely to stimulate debate?
More importantly, why do you continue to read the threads? Is there a gun at your head? Is there a knife at your throat? Is your livelihood endangered if you do not read them?

Equally important, who died and left you Grand Arbiter here in the Most Serene Christian Republic of Alabamastan? Are you going to issue a fatwah against the person you call out, Pedro?

Read Candide and then after you laugh at the section near the front with the "experimental physics" lesson where Pangloss is in the bushes with the maid, follow poor Candide's adventures and then come to the conclusion that he did: "Let us cultivate our own garden!"

I think what's ironic is saying that athiests hate God and Christ. That's like saying that most adults "hate" Santa Clause. Or that Christians "hate" Zeus and Hercules and Venus.
Hi Peter,

God bless you -- and let me be the first Christian to comment on your post and to give you a really big "ATTA BOY!"

Seems you have stirred up the whole nest of atheist hornets; but, they are flying around without stingers -- just impotent wing flappers.

You will notice that the first to respond was also the one who claimed to post the FIRST post on the new Religion Forum -- and who struts around wearing his Atheist hat and quoting his gods Darwin, Dawkins, Hitchens, et al.

Keep up the good work.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

peter, my impotent little opinion is that is called a FORUM and it's where people discuss ideas. sorry you missed that concept.

there's also an innovative little technique called 'not clicking the thread', 'not reading their post', or ta-da! - the ignored poster, if you really can't handle an opinion other than your own.

why do you think there is a religion thread? i'm not sure there would be much need of it, if there was not an ongoing discussion of religion. it's strange that a discussion of something you profess to be so sure of offends you. don't you enjoy the opportunity to tell us how wrong we all are?

That is a true statement. From what I have seen of atheists opinions, you cannot hate something that does not exist.
As for being a hating Christian; I like Zeus and Thor.

I think the true statement here would be..they don't hate God (because they don't believe He exists) but rather, they hate Christians and anyone who doesn't share their beliefs.

Hi Hoss,

Peter's point is that our atheist Friends get all in a tizzy when we tell them they have a Religion. They deny God, they deny the Bible, they deny all aspects of Christianity and religion. Yet, they are the first and the most active in posting on a Religion Forum.

Now, in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8, Jesus commanded Christians to Go, Disciple, Baptize, Teach, and be His Witness to all the world. Do you think that maybe their god, Darwin/Dawkins/Hitchens, commanded them to do the same? Where in their bibles is this written?

How many of them were screaming for the TD to start a Religion Forum so that we Christian fundamentalist nuts would stay off the other forums; yet, as soon as we have a Religion Forum -- they are the "fustest and mostest" to jump on it. That does seem a wee bit contradictory.

Maybe if we encourage the TD to start an Atheist/We Don't Believe Anything Forum -- they can live there and we can live on the Religion Forum -- and all God's chillun will be happy.

Sounds like a winner to me.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Please do not alter my posts. Make a new one for yourself. I do not need and editor.
Deep Fat, you need a mu in front of your laugh. Muhahaha! lol

Deep Fat's mouse emitted a satisfying click just before the latest religion thread loaded onto the screen. A wry grin tugged at his lips. He could scarcely believe how much fun was to be had at the hands of the simple minded woman who had changed her name yet again in an attempt to cuckold him. As he perused her latest post, he leaned back in his Henry Miller chair and gave a hearty laugh as he began to type his barbed response, "Muhahaha!"

Ah, but the simple woman had such a marvelous teacher; the wicked witch of the west who constantly changed her own name with her every whim. If she hated an indian, she became "Night Crow", if she hated a writer, her jealousy forced her to become "Under Contract". Little did anyone know that she was not under contract, but rather it was her clever muse to cause her one rival author jealousy. But the simple woman, though she was a simple person, was wise beyond her years, and saw through the witch's clever plan...wuhahahahahaha

Now would you two ladies please take your continuing 'oneupmanship' to the banter category? You are both writers so have a write off contest on the same subject and the forum members will declare the winner. Deep Fat gets to pick the topic. Limit, 500 words.
my great grandfather was an actual Civil war hero who was wounded and was nursed back to health by an indian maiden in S Carolina...wow, sounds like I should make that one into a book

And the lovely indian maiden, her long dark hair flowing down her back, looked wistfully at the handsome German soldier. He groaned as he tried to lift his leg. She quickly reached to assist him, her eyes not wavering from his. Like blue liquid pools; unlike the dark eyes of the indian warriors. He winched as he tried to raise himself from the tiny cot..She slowly moved the gray material away from the wound as blood trickled down his leg...oh my, no...his leg was alive with white crawly creatures, maggots..."That's it, I'm outta here, she called over her shoulder, "You're on your own soldier!" wuhahahahaha
