If I prove to be wrong, I will be happy to admit that publicly. But that's what I think. Many of his worst mistakes haven't even reached the public consciousness yet, thanks largely to the TimesDaily's soft-shoe approach to dealing with municipal matters.

Nobody ever says why Bobby Irons ought to be Mayor---why is that?
Bobby Irons brings class and civility to the Florence City Council. We are lucky that someone of his caliber is our Mayor. Just as important, we are lucky that "Cousin Tammy" is in the state legislature. She is doing a great job.

If I recall correctly, Tammy Irons was elected in a general election, not appointed by Bobby, Booby, or whatever you want to call him. How is that nepotism? I think she is doing a good job as representative.
Tammy "Abstain" Irons is not doing a great job in the State Legislature. She abstained on the Pay Raise vote and then takes the money. A friend told me then that she won't "abstain" from the cash. He was right. It's a joke, but the joke's on us while they are in office.
Bobby Irons needs to quit playing Big-Shot and start managing the City better. The things he is directly over are a mess. He takes credit for "jobs" in Barton he had nothing to do with, and then runs from responsibility from the things right here in town that he is truly responsible for but is hiding out on because he knows it is a mess.
City employees are disgusted, citizens are disappointed, many have been double-crossed, mislead or lied to, and done wrong. I think he thinks he can get away with it because of his name. I say he is wrong and this miscalculation is costing him the office. It is justice prevailing.
The people of Florence now see through the myth, and the reality has caught up with him.

Yeah, that pay raise deal was all I needed to see to understand what's going on with our state rep. All this stuff with these people is pretty cozy. I don't like it either.

For once something we agree on.
I think that maybe Sarah was mean to anyone who puts down her husband (as any good southern woman would). Mayor Irons is busy in trying to help unite a city. I have heard him say a negative word - Unlike his opponent who is extreamly negative. He works at keeping things postive. He is always out trying to be a part of growth. He is a part of Seda who has brought industry to the Shoals.
As for Tammy, she is not out for number one. She tries to watch out for the small businesses and the schools. She does what she feels is best for the Shoals (even though that is not popular).
I wouldn't want either one of the Irons jobs. They are working for some of the most ungrateful people!

Please. David Bronner and Bob Riley brought jobs here, not SEDA or Bobby Irons. The Irons are the most vindictive, slanderous people I have ever seen. The pettiness and smallness is awful. The people are ungrateful? Give me a break. The Irons ought to be happy the people pay their way. It is waste of tax money, but so far they get away with it. That will change soon.

Bobby Irons worked in corporate accounting and finance for Reynolds Metals Company for many years, for years was on the corporate level of a very large international company. Was very close to large financial decision and control systems for this international company.
Scott Carrier worked in sales at a small AM radio station is all I know about him. Maybe one of his supporters can tell us more.
So far all I've seen from Carrier supporters is personal attacks and lies and broad general inacurate remarks about the city while Mayor Irons has been in office.
Please, you Carrierites, give us more discussion about his qualifications and less about these made up attacks. Let's try to keep the discussion positive and informative, if you're able.

Scott Carrier has a MPA, Master's Degree in Public Administration and BA in Political Science. He has worked in several state capitals and in Washington DC. He has extensive business experience. His students from when he taught at NWSCC love him still and some help his campaign. He is great for the job of Mayor. He is not a myth. He is real.
As for Matt Osbourne, he was not charged or arrested for stealing Bobby Irons signs. That's a lie. He took them up from a road-way. The Police asked him about it. That's it.
If anything, what happened there pointed out the illegality of where the signs were. The signs were in violation of the law, not Matt Osborne. That's why it went away. No charges, no arrest, no court, no nothing. It was all a bunch of bull. That's why they shut up as soon as Scott fired back at the meeting that night. They tucked tail and wimpered away with the air out of yet another balloon of hot air.
An example of Irons campaign: The 90 year old mother of a supporter was called by somebody REAL CLOSE to Bobby Irons to try to get her to pressure her own son into not supporting Scott. That man is still livid and said he can't wait to vote for Scott and against Irons.
They even intimidated their own 93 year-old Aunt because she dared to talk to Scott. That's who they really are. Not the humble-pie myth they love to peddle with the public. A lot of people see through this now. Not as many are fooled anymore thank goodness.

I know the guy FDR is talking about who owns a business and has a Carrier sign. As soon as he put it up, literally within minutes, his 90 year old mother got a call from a "female" in the Irons "camp" to get her to call her own son and get on him about it. This poor old woman did and it so angered her son that he called Scott and told him about it. He told Scott to bring the biggest sign he has and put it up. He also said that he went from just for Scott, to adamantly against Irons now. Any people that would do that are unworthy of leading a city is what he says. I agree. Using a gullible old woman is pathetic. It really did happen and it's pitiful. It's also typical for this bunch of hypocrits.

Can a Mayor and city fathers get us another cable company besides comcast?
Comcast is so awful, you would think that it's a governmental agency. Poor service, bad signals, especially on HDTV.
I'm against Bobby Irons. I wish I could also vote out the people who bankrolled his original candidacy. He is nothing more than business as usual, Florence-style.
