I saw the interview when it happened, and Hank WIlliam's diatribe seemed so odd.  I thought he was drunk.  Then I saw him on Hannity (was it just last night?) and he seemed the same way.  He's a good singer/songwriter but a lousy speaker.  His thoughts ramble so, as if he can't complete a thought while he's talking.  He just seemed loopy to me.  It's not Fox's fault he speaks like he's nuts.

Whatever it takes to cure your Foxophelia is a first step toward sanity, whatever the WARPED reason!  See how crazy being exposed to those like Gretchen Carlson and Sean Hannity has MADE these poor souls?  This poor suffering poster is advocating a boycott not based on the ignorance of Hank Williams Jr. and his showing it on Fixed News but the fact that not even the radical right propoganda machine at FIXED NEWS are willing to go THAT FAR!  (Actually, they ARE and have many times, just the hypocrisy that is all things rethugliteacon coming through I guess)  BUT YES, BOYCOTT FOX NEWS!

REMEMBER:

ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOXOPHILES

No, I shall not boycott Fox.  I like Bocephus, but he's had a bit too much exposure to bourbon and a few other items, I suspect.

Feel free to watch CNN and MSNBC, if you must.  Or, join the over 75 crowd that still watch the antenna networks' evening national news. Nothing against the older folks, they're just used to NBCCBSABC.  Old habits die hard.

Business is business.

When you have a valuable property/product like Monday Night Football, image is EVERYTHING. And Hank Williams was hired to help the image of MNF, to connect with the "average Joe" and make them feel like the game was something they could relate to- nevermind that it's played by millionaires for multi-millionaires in billion-dollar stadiums. Hiring Hank Williams was a business decision. And when he shot his mouth off, drawing negative attention to himself, ESPN felt that he was not worth the risk of negative publicity for their very valuable property as that could drive down it's value to advertisers (which is where the real money is made in broadcasting). So, they made the business decision to get rid of him, in order to protect that image.

He's still free to run his mouth as loud and as long as he wants- it's a free country, and that's the very essence of it. But that doesn't mean he is free from risk in doing so... if you embarrass or otherwise cause damage to your employer or your employer's product, they are under no obligation to continue employing you. Anyone trying to turn this into a First Amendment issue is completely and totally missing the point of the right to free speech.

There seems to be a great deal of ignorance about the First Amendment. It prohibits the government from interfering with free speech; it says there may be no law prohibiting free speech. It  does not prohibit a business from deciding what may be said by its employees, vendors, etc. Hank Williams is free go say whatever he pleases; ESPN is free to say it won't pay him for saying it.

Hate to piggyback off of you teyates, b50m's condition could be a symptom of the mind destroying disease:  FOXOPHELIA!  Look at the examples of the carnage that radical right wing brainwashing  has inflicted upon those who are afflicted with this illness on this forum!

Maybe they don't realize it's called Fox News ENTERTAINMENT. That means they can report/make crap up as the please.

What I think is funny is that Republicans give all this lip service to the Jesus freak fanbase but that's never the candidate they'll run in a presidential election. Wake up you knotheaded Christians, you're being used and have been since Regan watched Jimmy Carter rake in all the fundy votes.

Captain oblivious, take your Jesus freak talk to religion.

As for Fox news, no one has ever proved they MADE ANYTHING UP.

But we know Dan Rather made up stories. We know Katie Curic chops her video interviews into nice little pieces, and we know Eric Holder is a flat out lair to congress.

These things we can prove.  The rest is inside that pink leotard of yours.

The Common Dreams piece was a perfect example of regressive thought.  A small bit on Fox, then praising NPR viewers.  Mostly, reporting on the "misperception" of foreigners including the middle east and Europe -- that they are extreme conspiracy believers.

That last part is true, Europe and the middle east contain more than their fiar share of nutburgers. But, then, Europe is full of regressives.

The very mention of Fox causes MEGO amongst the regressives.  Readiing of their high viewership causes steam to spout from their ears.  Let's keep them engaged.  Its fun!

You mean like this bit of CNN trash!

"After airing an ad for the midterm elections that implicitly jabbed at its two rival cable news networks, CNN released a promo on Wednesday that takes Fox News and MSNBC head on.

The ad, called "CNN: The Choice Is Clear,"casts MSNBC and Fox News as partisan networks more interested in pushing an agenda than in delivering the news. The script reads:

"When you support one party or the other, that's OK--if you're a voter. But not if you are a news network. If you want to keep them all honest without playing favorites, the choice is clear. CNN: the worldwide leader in news."

The ad features only text -- with two exceptions. When the words "one party or the other" show up, so do an elephant labeled "Fox News" and a donkey labeled "MSNBC."

Many of them. Do you spend all your time wishing for Chris Matthews to give YOU a tingle?

If you ever ventured into the religious section, you would know I'm not a Christian.

Exactly. Gilbert Gottfried getting fired as the voice of the Aflac duck is a perfect recent example of this. It's not good for business.

Fox is right on this one. Bocephus IS a redneck and his  comments about the President were intemperate and inappropriate.  True, he has a right to speak his opinion freely and publicly.  But my question is THIS: Will the same people who took such strong offense at the Dixie Chicks` singer, Natalie Maines, when she criticized G.W. Bush now find fault with Williams, Jr. for insulting the current President?

LOL, you have butters giving you pointers now? Tell you what rockhead, you stop posting rethugliteacons and using BOLD for every post, and I won't call you rockhead.

When I hear people talk about how "unbiased" MSNBC and CNN are, I am reminded of the story of the NYT sent to me by a friend....

A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her before the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage, and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A New York Times reporter has witnessed the whole scene, and addressing the biker, says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life." "Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right." "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist from the New York Times, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this on the front page. What motorcycle do you ride and what political affiliation do you have?" "A Harley Davidson, and I am a Republican." The journalist leaves. The following morning the biker buys the New York Times and reads, on the front page: *REPUBLICAN BIKER GANG MEMBER ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH*
