of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause.  The ACLU is absolutely right on this one.

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union has sued in federal court alleging that public schools in Chesterfield County in South Carolina are unconstitutionally promoting Christianity.

The suit filed Monday stems from a rally earlier this school year at New Heights Middle School that featured a Christian rapper and a youth evangelist.

An ACLU news release contains the following:

" In September, students at New Heights were compelled to attend a worship rally that featured a sermon delivered by a Christian minister and the Christian rapper known as “B-SHOC” who performs songs like “Jesus Lean,” “Crazy Bout God” and “Christ-Like Cruisin.” Students were encouraged to pray and sign a pledge dedicating themselves to Jesus. The assembly follows regular practices at New Heights and throughout the district in which teachers and staff routinely incorporate prayer and proselytizing into school events and criticize and harass students who do not claim to be Christians."

The ACLU's formal complaint (below) describes the school district's astonishing efforts at unconstitutional religious indoctrination of students by civil government. The school system will have its lunch eaten by the ACLU and the whining theocrats who see nothing wrong with the flagrantly unconstitutional actions involved here will do their characteristic whining, hand wringing and hair-shirting. Same song, 257th verse.

It is definitely a public sckrool.

The ACLU will win and nothing will be done.

This is the Christian version of jihad...they can break the law with impunity because there is no mechanism to punish them for civil rights violations.

I say we strap a bomb on their chest and see if Jesus saves em.

You do have a point. What CAN the ACLU gain? Not much, if any, money. The schools operate on a shoestring anyway.

How sad that your simplistic mind can not understand that there are actually groups such as the ACLU that actually believe in and defend  PRINCIPLES, including the fundamental principles of the Constitution, and who defend those principles without being motivated by financial gain.  The fools who oversee the Chesterfield County school system have more than enough information to know without doubt that they are in extreme violation of the Constitution and that the wise course of action for them is to stop their unconstitutional activities immediately and agree not to resume them.  Otherwise  they will encounter legal costs in a losing cause and will squander public funds that would better be spent on educating the students in their school system.

Thank You. I feel better already. I can now rest assured that the intellectual giant of the Forums is looking out for my individual freedoms. Please, feel free to post more enlightening subject matter. I look forward to your next earth shattering revelation.

Should you really want to convince anyone of your vigilance in keeping the Constitution intact, you should address many of the blatant tramplings done by your boy Obama.

Until you remove THAT mote from your eye, you will continue, as always, to be nothing more than the egotistical bag of wind that you have so often proven to be.
