After being in the overcrowded stadium at Brooks last week I asked several people and even called the radio station 93.9 The Score and asked what could be done to get the semi-final playoff game to be held at Braly Stadium.

I did not get an answer. UNA is at Valdosta and it would be a neutral site. The greatest advantage would be that it would hold better accomodations for the crowd.
It would be a great preperation for Legion field for the winning team.

Even if Braly agreed to it, Deshler would never go for it. They played the whole season to get to the point to where they could play the semi-finals at HOME. What makes you think they'd be even the least bit interested in playing at a neutral site?

It's going to be a great game! Yeah it will be packed, but I agree with dkn...that's what makes the game so great. The environment will be completely electric in that stadium tonight!

The last time Brooks played Deshler at Deshler, Brooks beat the snot out of them.

It would be even more electric at Braly. You should have been at the FHS vc Hoover game. If you had been there you would know what I'm referring to.

I wish both teams well.

You are absolutely correct, I am so sorry.. I forgot CC, congrats to all 3 teams for making it this far!

The main thing is just to be on the positive side. I'm more of a Brooks fan since I live in the area and know a few people at Brooks. Every one of them coaches and Principal I know ain't worth killing anyway. LOL !!!!!!!!

If you tick the principal off keep a good distance from him. LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard a rumor yesterday that some of the big money football supporters at Deshler paid coach Jerry Hill of Brooks to throw the game. My fist thought was that it was just a stupid rumor. When I think back at the unbelievably idiotic play calling that Brooks did I had second thoughts.

No coach in his right mind would have made the calls that Brooks coaches did. Going for it on fourth and goal twice in the first half was very questionable. The score could have been 7-6 at half time had Brooks kicked two field goals. Brooks place kicker is not bad enough not to attempt a short field goal. Heck, he made the extra point kicks.

Running and throwing east and west all night was also questionable. I realize Deshler had very large and agile linemen. I also realize that Brooks QB is short and most likely unable to throw the ball down the middle of the field due to his inability to see. But you can’t win a football game without going north and south.

Deshler played well enough to win and I congratulate them. Everyone that I spoke to about the game, Deshler and Brooks fans alike continue to question the play calling of the Lions. Coach Mothershed was defiantly the superior coach Friday night.

I find it very hard to believe that Brooks threw the game. I am a fervent Brooks supporter, but I am not clouded by my love of the school.

As you mentioned, Corbin (Brooks QB) is very short. It's been Brooks system to roll him out and throw to the sidelines all year. It's the best way for him to see the field.

I did not like the refusal to kick field goals either. Will Gilmore is a pretty good kicker from about 35 yards in. The first kick would have been about a 20 yarder and the second about a 32 yarder. There's about a 35 to 45% chance Will may have missed the second, but the first, there's about a 95% chance he would ahve hit it.

In the first game against Deshler they also stopped us after a first goal at the 4, this was much the same scenario. Hill has to learn from his mistakes.

And while I have never been the biggest Jerry Hill fan and I questioned his hire, I do like his coaching staff and one thing about Hill, he truly loves Brooks High School and I don't think he would take part in anything that's relative to throwing the game.
Why would the Brooks coaching staff and or coaches throw the game? This was their best team they probably have ever had and the best chance they would have had to go to state ever. They struggled in at least 2 of the playoff games making comebacks and dramatic late touchdowns to win. Friday night they met the beast that is Deshler Football. The net result was the same as the first meeting. The bad news for other teams is that deshler has 3 seniors that start. So, Deshler is loaded yet again next year.
The best team Brooks ever had IMO, was Will Roach's senior year. They lost to East Limestone after fumbling I think 7 times in THEIR OWN TERRITORY and still almost pulled it off in the end.

That team SHOULD have won state. But that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. And as far as the comment about not having many seniors at Deshler..

The clear difference in the playoff game was Dominique King, he won't be back.
