I'm no fan of President Obama nor was a a whole hearted fan of President Bush. I was initially for Gore and Kerry and in retrospect am very glad I lost those votes (both of them).

I have, over the last weeks, been listening to President Bush interviewed about his book. He was also interviewed about President Obama and other issues. One thing I have come to form a new opinion about is that President Bush, former President Bush is so much more Presidential than Obama ever hopes to be. I have nothing but respect for the way former President Bush carries himself in the interviews and how he avoids criticism of the current administration as well as those liberal news outlets that crucified him. The reason why? He did not want to harm the office of the president then, when he was in it or now that he is out of it.

I hear Bush speak and then Obama and there is no comparison. Bush needs no teleprompter and Bush always appears much more Presidential and professional than Obama. Bush always holds America in the highest regard whereas it seems Obama is at times embarrassed to be called an American.

I've grown to respect President Bush far more out of office than I ever did when he was in office.

This canard that the President of the United States doesn't hold his own country in high regard is certainly popular in right-wing circles, despite its complete detachment from reality. We can disagree on speaking styles and who appears more presidential, but the claim that Obama is somehow embarrassed to call himself an American is just a ridiculous lie circulated by his political opponents.

I do agree that Bush has been pretty much a model ex-president so far.
When a president apologizes for practically everything America has ever done and his wife states that "this is the first time in my life that I'm proud of America" one can understandly come to the conclusion that he is Not proud to be an American. Granted those were not his words but they (husband and wife) seem very much like minded. Obama doesn't appear presidential because he has no experience in anything that would prepare him to be president.
