Ford doesn't look at anything but the dollar. I've owned a few and they were good cars. My best Ford car was a 1992 Festiva. It was built by Kia in South Korea and labeled by Ford. It didn't even use the Ford key. It used a Mazda key.

All I am saying is don't be disillusioned. All car companies are looking for one thing. Oh, and before you go "all American" on me, I own two Fords, one Dodge, and one Jeep. I did sell the Festiva a few years back and last I heard it was still going.
As I stated...Ford is the only one that "CARES" about America. Paw Paw...you think Toyota cares about America? Might want to question the accelerator issue and their concealing info on that one.

And alabamason...I know companies have to make money...that's a nobrainer. The CEO of Ford hasn't received pay for five years...show me your brand that's showed a commitment like that.

I have one GM vehicle now, the last one. I have two Ford trucks and ...drum roll...a 1982 Honda Accord that I have owned, and still drive to work, since 1984.

I bought a F150 this summer and made a decision then that from now on, all my vehicles will be a Ford.
I don't think anyone is saying that Ford is bad, just that things aren't always as they seem when it comes to all companies. I give Mr. Ford credit for knowing when he's over his head and seeking out Alan Mulally (who is actually the CEO & President. Bill Ford is the chairman) who basically bet the company on his overhaul. Mr. Mulally didn't work without a salary but it was performance based as well.

Anyhow, personally I wouldn't have purchased a ford 5 years ago, but I would now. but it's not because they didn't take a bailout, it's because they finally did what enthusiasts wanted for years, bring over some of the cars they had in Europe, concentrate on more their other cars than just SUVs and Trucks, and advance technology. That's all people wanted. All of the big three focused on SUVs for the past decade because it was where the money was. You never make your R&D that top heavy, and it took an engineer on top to fix that.

WH, I was not trying to say that Toyota cared about America. For that matter, I don't think any auto company "cares" about anything other than the bottom line dollar.
I was just stating a fact that 85% of the camry is "American built" None of the big three, as far as I know, can claim that high of a percentage.
I like Fords too. Up till the time of my first retirement, my vehicle of choice was an unmarked Crown Vic. Then up till my second retirement, it was an up-armored AM General HMMWV. In their refined versions, I’d have to say they both cared about America.

Now I’ve got a Dodge SUV, a Ford truck, and a GM car because I look for the best bargains as I’ve found manufacturer loyalty to customers manifested through their dealers very subjective.

And check out the "most American made" car. It was Camry for the last couple of years. Don't know about 2010.

My Camry (09) was built in KY. I looked at an Impala when I bought it, they are built in Canada. I bought the Camry based on being built here. My grandparents and numerous uncles worked for Fisher Body (GM) for 35+ years and are still mad at me, but Id rather send the gross profits to Japan and employ Americans in the process than send the gross profits to GM and employ Canadians......

That's a old list from 2006 and things have changed a bit since then. http://www.cars.com/go/advice/...ami&story=amMade0710 Ford still does pretty well in terms of American parts, make sure you scroll down a little in the article.

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingt...-and-automakers.html This is a list of parts in relation to sales. The big three are on top of course but Honda is not that far behind.

Since it was brought up, it should be noted that the NHTSA and a NASA engineer still hasn't found anything that shows an electronic defect. Starting to sound like it was due to what they originally thought, chunky pedals and sticky pedals. Probably a bit of the Audi effect as well. (people hitting the accelerator and thinking it's the brakes.) http://jalopnik.com/5609503/in...help-in-toyota-probe

Somebody already pointed out it wasn't the CEO, but rather Mr. Ford, the chairman. I seriously doubt it affected him in any way. I'm sure he had his bases covered.

I won't say Ford is a bad vehicle. I've owned Fords for many years now. I will say that Ford is no different than any other company when it comes to their ultimate goal. It is my understanding that Ford made it through the crisis without a bailout because they luckily renegotiated their credit line before the other two of the "big three".
