My cable box went out sometime last night, I called comcast and was told that a lot of people in the shoals area and especially those in sheffield are having problems with cable outage. Is anyone else having problems with their cable today?
I've recently obtained a new, more positive outlook on life. Things are not always as they seem nor as bad as we think they are. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes!

This certainly discounts the commercials that Comcast have been airing these last few weeks . Half the channels disappeared for quite a while on Friday ,I think they are working, for now . Comcast , get your act together , remember your promises on National TV , and remember it is *you* who broke the contracts , not us .

The Raven , I think we are griping because we are the ones paying them for their service and when the service is lacking they need to know about it . WH , we tried Dish for a couple of years , the service was worse than Comcast.[/quote]

AND because we pay the full amount each month even when they go down for a few hours or a few days.
I had lost everything past 20, so I had nothing.
My Mother had service with Comcsst for over 50 years. She would call about problems, when they would show up, the service would not be doing what she was complaining about. Their answer would be, call us when it's doing it. So she recorded hours to show them. They still couldn't fix it. She went with Dish Network and loves it. I think she has only lost service with Dish once, because of a storm. Comcast made the mistake of calling her and asking why she no longer had service with them. That would of been their 2nd mistake. She's a fireball, let them have it. They haven't called back. lol She said she wishes she had changed YEARS ago.
Yeah Commiecast sucks.

Pixelated video feed, audio distortion, service outages... We call 'em up and demand credit every time outages happen.
Like SHELDIVR said-somebody else needs to come into the area and compete with these morons. Give 'em a reason to do it right.

Thought about switching to dish but it's still just radio-susceptible to interference (QRN and QRM), I figure why pay for it when I could just get the local channels/networks for free over local terrestrial broadcast. That way I'd still get the interference but it'd be free, too.
I've had Dish Net for probably 10 to 15 years now. I have NEVER had any issues with their service. Once, when I let one of my receivers sit for a couple of months, all the channels stopped working. A friend told me what to tell them to do, they did it, and it was ok after that.
By having Dish, I can "carry" my cable down to my trailer on the Gulf Coast and not have to pay cable when I'm not there.
Comcast totally pissed me off, I had the same problem Moonwillow's mother had. Bad fuzzy picture on about half the channels. They would come out, but even though we set a time , they refused to actually meet with me about it.
I dumped them, got Dish, and found a whole new world of things to watch which aren't even on Comcast.
My daughter still has Comcast at her place, and she can't get MSNBC. Some people claim they can get it, but channel 44 on her TV is still a blue screen. maybe once they force her to digital tv, it will re-appear.
They most certainly do have competition now. One real advantage of cable used to be that you could go to the store, buy a TV, take it home and plug it in and you were good to go. Not any more.
Now you have to have a box for that TV. And unless you are willing to pay extra for that box it won't even have the channels that you are paying for.
Now your service with comcast is for one TV and one TV only unless your fork over the bucks.
