Bruce Jenner is fighting back after being named in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a deadly February car accident. The Olympian, 65, has asked a judge to throw out the suit filed by Dana Redmond and William Howe, the stepchildren of crash victim Kim Howe.
In the original paperwork, the pair sought retribution after suffering “enormous damages,” which they specifically blamed Jenner for.
Now the reality star has filed paperwork of his own, asking the judge to throw out the suit. In the documents, obtained by Us Weekly, Jenner’s legal team notes that Howe and Redmond are 57 and 60 years old, respectively, and did not live with the late Howe prior to her death.
They were “not financially dependent upon their elderly stepmother for the necessities of life,” the papers read.
In addition to the claims in these new papers, questions have separately been raised as to the relationship between the stepchildren and Howe, with some reports claiming they were estranged from their stepmother.
The fatal accident involved multiple cars and took place on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Feb. 7. Following the crash, Jenner released a statement regarding the death of his former neighbor.
“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident," he said in a statement at the time. "It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
