From the scriptures in Romans:

Romans 8:28-30 (NIV)
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

The word Called and Predestined appear above.  Many different denominations view the text differently.  Some 5 Point Calvinistic say that only those who God Calls or foreknew will be saved and that there are some that God knows will not be saved and are appointed to destruction.

Another view of the same Scripture is that the process of Calling is the conviction of the Holy Spirit where God Spiritually enlightens the sinner enabling he/she to realize their spiritual state of need and their sinfulness and realize what Jesus Christ did for us.  Additionally the act of Predestination come in the belief that God long before Christ determined that He (Christ) would die and present the perfect sacrifice for Mankind's sins enabling salvation through Christ and that is what was Predestined.  Salvation rather than individuals appointed to salvation and that salvation is open to all or whosoever believes in Christ.  The likeness of Christ is seen as a reference to the coming promised Holy Spirit that would dwell within each Christian enabling a Christlike change in people's hearts and lives.  Justified meaning that mankind has the ability to be put JUST or be justified in God's eyes at Judgment upon mankinds sins and sin nature.

There are many interpretations as to just what that scripture means but if you want to share your personal opinions please do or supporting scriptures.

Be as the Bereans ( Acts 17:11 )

God knew the people that would be most Christ like even before this creation.

They are predestined, he already knew the ones who will carry the responsibility

of the word being taught to all that will listen.

Hi GB,

This is a good discussion and it led me to write an eNewsletter to my Friends Ministry -- and to post that as a new discussion on the Religion Forum titled "Word Trinity Leads Us To "Once Saved, Always Saved."

The reason I posted it as a new discussion is two-fold.  First, I already had it written in the form of a new post to send to my mail list -- and, second, it is a good response to those who continue to deny the doctrine of eternal security, i.e., "Once Saved, Always Saved."

This is not meant to take away from your very good discussion posted here -- but, to complement it and to add assurance from the Bible for those who may doubt or question their eternal security.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
