RE: Link

Snippet: "Most of the debate focused on the economy, education, defense spending, entitlement spending and partisan politics, but started with a question on how the candidates would reconcile the negative tone of their campaigns with Jesus.

Parker said Jesus was often portrayed as meek and mild, but that "He had some real hard things to say of the religious leaders of the time."

Griffith said, "I think he would be ashamed of both of us," and later said, "We really have done a disservice by not discussing the issues."

(Me) Darn right! Why, with the economy, jobs, education and defense matters, "What would Jesus think?" would be my very first question, too!

Thank goodness our Article VI, section 3 of our Constitution says nothing about religious tests for public office. Otherwise, Greg Screws (Channel 19 news anchor) would be accused of administering such a test.

Skeptic, why do you seem to be sarcastic?

Why does it offend anyone if a religous question is asked?

What does it matter to the people who are not followers of Christ when questions pertaining to Christ are asked? After all they are not a believer in Him anyway.

In a separation of Church and State; it appears that this means our Government is not to be ruled by a religous body such as the Catholics did towards the European and Roman empire. However, it does not mean that questions pertaining to or better yet it does not mean that a Christian can not ask or answer questions biblically to someone in office or running for office. Even more so this "separation of church & state" does not mean that a Christian person can not run for office or hold office and it definitly does not mean that he can not view things such as baby murder (abortion) & other items through biblical eyes.

These are my views on what you have posted. They may be wrong but they are still my opinionated views!

Oh, you misunderstanded me! Such a question doesn't bother me any more than it would bother you if I asked the candidates what they thought Satan or Buddha would think of them.

Such a question has as much to do with the election as whether or not they had a bowel movement that morning.

Those answers are vitally important, my brother!
The idea of Our Lord endorsing political candidates is fairly ludicrous, as He knew of no elections to my knowledge, not being a Roman citizen, for what that "republic" was worth then. Furthermore, Our Lord appears to have not a very high opinion of either Saducees or Pharisees or the Priestly Party as much more than examples of how not to act.
Our Lord enjoined us, not in parable or cloaked language to "render unto Casesar that which is Caesar's and to God that which is God's."
Luckily, the Enlightenment ideas of equality under the law for all citizens, without regard to status of birth or affiliation in or not of various religious organizations, while on the surface is "antichurch," in reality, it is as firm a Biblical principle as possible, straight out of the Carpenter's Son's own mouth as recorded.
Now we all know how the Protestants can fight over "sprinkling" and "dunking" or "innovations" such as Sunday Schools, or even more pressing theologoical issues such as changing the carpet in the building, so it is probably best to leave the churches alone to fight amongst themselves and the factions to fight amongst themselves in the political arena.
That way one can be a "dual contender!" "And in the left corner, weighing in at 167, with a MA in both history and library and information science, representing the Democrats, the Bama Bomber in the red trunks. He will be facing off with Sean "Crazy" Hannity, a former radio DJ and junior college dropout, all 250 lbs, the Shame of Fox for the Republicans!"
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a championship match for "Best Christian in the World," which we are afraid to inform you that the member representing the Anglican Communion, the Bama Slammer, has announced his retirement from this league, finding it distasteful and repulsive to common sense and the example of Our Lord, leaving the remaining challengers to now have a Texas Death Cage Match amongst themselves where the only rules are that there are no rules, nor referees, nor towels to throw in. This match is expected to attract a perpetual entrance of claimants, where the winner will eventually be awarded a holy anointed witch-finding belt and a season pass for life to NASCAR."
I'm sorry, NASCAR is sponsoring the event, and there is nothing I can do about it. People could always lobby Hooters and also try to get the venue changed from Las Vegas to Shea Stadium, but it, due to my retirement, is entirely out of my hands.

Show us your Yes on Prop 8 Teeshirts! Then yank 'em up.

(Oddly, that Billation graphic was what got me on this entire track: mammary glands, then the gals in the end field, etc. etc.)

My sister is in Brooklyn right now and may be exposed to the gay air when she is forced to go into the city tommorow. Should she wear a surgical mask or full anti-contamination clothes? She don't want no secular germs brought back into the house. I suspect she is safe in Brooklyn Heights, but you never know . . . once she walks over that bridge to the Hallowe'en parade in Sodom-on-Hudson . . . all bets are off. I hear it starts at Washington Square Park and NYU. We are getting suspicious. They have been to NYC twice in 3 weeks now and are going next to Austin. Then maybe L.A. for a few weeks! My Lord, at the secularity! They are speeding back to vote Tuesday for Senator Obama, however, before leaving for Gomorrah-in-Texas.
