I don't understand why the politics thing keeps coming up. Greg was the person that the administration, staff, and many athletes and parents wanted as the coach and he knew that he would be the football coach before the job was ever posted. The administration as well as the Central community had a lot of faith in him and they were crushed and in disbelief when all of this came about. He let a lot of people down. The administration as well as the Central community had a lot of faith in him and they were crushed and in disbelief when all of this came about. He let a lot of people down. I guess politics came into play before anything ever came out because Greg and everyone else knew that he was going to be named the coach before the other coach ever resigned. I have also heard that the only way politics is now playing a role is that some of the board members (JFF and DB) are trying to keep Coach Palmer at Rogers because he is such a great coach. It's time that Central is given some respect from the board and time to heal. Getting our team a good coach needs to be the first step in this process.

The board focuses everything on the East end of the county. They are getting everything for the schools up that way while this end of the county does without and the community and parents are TIRED OF IT!!!

As for the Greg Brewer thing, he had a great thing going with the football program at CHS and blew it over choosing to have an inappropriate relationship with a LITTLE GIRL. The board members better think about what they are doing in this and other situations where the schools in this part of the county are concerned, they will be up for election again at some point and that is when politics will come in to play for their bad decision making. DO THE RIGHT THING!

There has not been any accusations along those lines. Only texting, hugging, & kissing. Some folks very close to both sides say that he had confessed to it and is now changing the story. Who knows? I just hope the board will do the right thing in this whole situation.

Let me just say that I am glad that I have boys and don't have a girl to send back there if he is going to be there.
not worth a comment Deena. And I never implied that Mr. Palmer had anything to do with the accusations against Mr. Brewer. I don't for one minute think he instigated that situation. But I wouldn't be at all surpised if it was discovered that this situation was super-sized by someone in an attempt to prevent Mr. Brewer from getting that position. It's just too coincidental that the timing was so perfect. But if he is guilty, he will get what he deserves. I for one don't believe he is but that's just my opinion.
Why don't everyone let the judical system take care of this situation. I know sometimes it doesn't do what it is suppose to do BUT.... that is going to be the way that it is taken care of no matter what anyone says. I do hope for one that all this isn't true. I know both parties involved and for both of them i only pray and hope the truth will come out, no matter what it is. I seen Brewer in action with these boys (football players)and he did have something good going on over there.
I am probably going to be beat up for this, but we spend far too much time on athletics. To "Farguard": it does not matter if there is an opening. One will be created. Billy Valentine is the golden child with plenty of pull in the central community. How do you think he got to be superintendent? And. . . yes, Virginia, we will spend another teacher's salary on a coach.
This is only to deenalynne, no one else........ 1. The court system WILL do the judging on this man. God has already JUDGED him. God knows the truth. the whole truth.
2. I am not saying anything one way or the other. I just hope the truth comes out.
3. Matthew 7:1
Have you read your BIBLE lately?
Maybe we all need to read that verse.
ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE YOU, ME and BREWER.
one way or the other he will pay for anything he has done. IF he indeed is guilty or innocent.
Just pray for both families.
JF can not do the things some people are implying. He is only the chairman of the board. He only votes in a tie situation. Granted, he may have some influence, but so does everyong else. Valentine has to recommend. It has to start with him. He can recommend the same person several times and let the board refuse to hire. This has happened several times. He can then blame it on the board. He has also been "begged" to close the nineth grades at Cloverdale and Anderson, but he refuses. These feeder schools should not have nineth grades. Those students are accumulating credits. They are facing the 10th grade writing assessment, grad exam, and ACT, for which they are unprepared. The classrooms often have more than one grade and their teachers have too many preps. Sorry, but I did not mean to "vent", but it is really fustrating to see students struggle unnecessiarly.
Patriat -

JF does exactly what he wants and he controls everything.... BV only recommends what he knows JF and his cronies will approve - don't let anybody tell you any different!! As for
Cloverdale and Anderson - BV is not the reason they are not closed - there are alot of influential people that live in those communities and they make sure to let JF and them know it.

I would allow my child to be taught by Brewer with no hesitation. He is a great teacher. I would be more concerned and pay more attention to my child and her "cell phone" and those type activities...and keep them ALL in check...But if you keep him from teaching your child you are missing out on a good education...
Beachbunnie, I realize the judicial system will take care of this matter as far as legality is concerned. *I* am responsible for my child and who she associates with. Should be a no brainer for a parent. I am not judging whether this man has salvation or not. Not my job. Just whether it is safe for my child to me alone in a room with him, I don't believe she is. And BTW, YES I have read my Bible lately.

I know both young men. Our sons went to Central. One played basketball under Mayfield, who just is not cut out to coach anything other than maybe, golf. Not saying Mayfield isn't a fine man, don't know him well. Shane is the best choice for this job after the slashing the school, teachers, players, students, etc., have endured . As one of their own, Shane can help the entire community unite, work together to recover, mold the team into what it should be. I'm not familiar with his teaching, don't know what subject or grades he has been or will be taking on but have no doubt his best efforts and diligence will be apparent in both classroom, which is most important, as well as on the field.

Shane cut his teeth on the ballfield, so to speak. His uncle coached our boys in Dixie Youth at Underwood for several years;everyone wanted their kids to play under SP, he knew to make fun the most important part of the game, played no favorites, coached fairly, was always pleasant to his players and their families. Shane's dad probably did the same at Central's Dixie Youth program. I've known the whole family all my life and my parents knew theirs.

Best wishes to Coach Palmer and everyone at CHS and the community. I do not live in Central FYI.

FYI--wrong Palmer -- Shane is Brent's older brother and is a chiropractor -- Brent is the one that is in line for the position -- but all of what you said is still true for Brent...
