"Last 2" I assume you are including Bill Clinton in that statement?

I don't want Obama to fail, if he is a sorry president, the country will suffer. I want him to do well, because it will be good for the country.

Same here. What astounds me is the millions of people willing to vote for someone whom they knew exactly nothing about except his race, which made him a lock for some, and his pie-in-the-sky speeches. You should never judge people on what they say but what they do and there are very few who know what he has done. I wouldn't vote for him because all I knew of him was being mixed up with despicable people and vowing to take money away from one group and give it to the lazy. Not a way to earn my vote.
MUSICAL CHAIRS?
Rahm has not resigned his congressional seat...which by the way was held by the Ill. Gov before he became gov according to a article I read...
Do any of you get that greasy feeling just by reading about these jackels on two legs...

I am afraid Chicago style, backroom dealing, 1920's yellow dog bargaining has now entered the arena of the White House...change is coming all right...
No doubt. Its a shame that the states with by far, the largest number of stupid people can cause the rest of us to have to suffer with slimy, low-down people in powerful places. I wish California, New York, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Mess-ahusetts, and Ohio could have their own country. We could watch smugly as they collapse under their own weight of corruption, laziness and stupidity in SO MANY ways.

So you mean to tell me I should be a republican? Thats really bright Roll Eyes I would bet my behind he would have never checked that box for McCain/Palin and I would put money on him voting for Obama! After all he knew the value of a black man! He built a legacy no-one will ever duplicate and he did it thinking outside the box. And as for John Wayne I like him pretty good too. I also like Hank Williams JR! I forgive them all for their political shortcomings! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Are you a chick? Just wondering.
As to John Wayne I have no doubt he was a republican.

John Wayne: White Supremacist, McCarthyite, Draft-Dodging, Republican Icon

The first chapter from Glenn Greenwald's new book, "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics", is all about John Wayne, or as Greenwald calls him, the "Pioneer of the Great American Hypocrite". And while the "Duke" was unquestionably a conservative Republican and a hypocrite, what really stands out is what a deplorable human being he was. A few shocking excerpts:

John Wayne in a 1971 Playboy interview:

"We can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership to irresponsible people."

Wayne was also an anti-communist McCarthyite in the 1950's who regularly accused Hollywood figures of being communist. But even worse, Wayne held his despicable views long after the "Red Scare" ended. In 1969 he told a Time reporter the following:

"I think those blacklisted people should have been sent over to Russia. They'd have been taken care of over there, and if the Commies ever won over here, why hell, those guys would be the first ones they'd take care of -- after me."

And despite being a draft-dodger during WWII when almost everyone served in the military -- including fellow actors James Stewart, Clark Gable and Henry Fonda -- Wayne called teenagers who fled for Canada or Europe during the Vietnam War "cowards," "traitors," and "Communists."

Is there any question that Wayne would be a perfect fit in today's Republican Party?

You believe anything glenn greewald writes? How sad for you. Have you ever read David Horowitz? He was a communist along with his parents back in the McCarthy days. As he aged, he suddenly grew a brain (too bad you libs on this board can't do the same) and came clean about that era. He said that McCarthy was right about almost every person outted and this comes from a communist insider. I know it may be hard for you to take that one of your heroes may in fact have been a commie but deal with it. Maybe you can quote from Greenwald's book about the joys of living in the clinton years when Republicans were accused of wanting to starve the poor (have you ever seen a skinny welfare recipient?) by scaling back the welfare state. That they were trying to kill old people because they were trying to keep social security from going bankrupt which it will because the defacrats use that issue to get the elderly vote.

John Wayne was right at that time about not turning the government over to the bobby seales and malcom xs of the world. He just didn't state his case in a PC way. And because of their beliefs and policies, there are very few blacks who belong in leadership roles today. JC Watts, Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, and Michael Steele to name a few. Of course they are conservatives so I'm sure you hate them even though they are black.

As for glenn greenwald, judging from his writings,I would think he and his parents were probably on McCarthy's list as well.

I never used the word hate....only you did that! I hate no-one like I said before I like John Wayne movies, I listen to Hank Williams Jr, I admire Colin Powell (before he endorsed Obama)..........it takes all kinds of us to make this world turn ya know! How stupid it would be to dislike a person because they are democrat or republican.

I got where I would refuse assignments with him...just a good example of the rose colored glasses people put on their idols...

Question, are you by chance an Auburn fan or is yours a truly objective opinion?

I'll agree with that!
Backwoods...
Being a auburn or alabama fan does not play into my opinion....the truth is I pull for both teams...after all both teams are full of Alabama boys...
I spoke of my experience of being with celebraties who were a pleasure to be around vs some who were very difficult to be around or watch, much less protect them.

Not critisism at all...just stated facts...

I think most of us hate what people stand for rather than the person themselves. However when politicians publicly state that people trying to reform the bloated welfare state are Nazis wearing business suits, my dislike for them as people borders on hate because there are some people in this country stupid enough to believe them.

I doubt many people "worshipped" Paul Bryant. If they did, that's the least of their problems.
I'm pretty sure most admired the way he coached football games and knew very little of his personal life which seems to give some the licence to say things even if it isn't true.
Yep, Beternu is definitely manifesting signs of Obsessive-compulsive disorder...need to get back on your medication. HINT: You are not the grammar/spelling police.
