In the beginning, god created man and woman.  Actually he did not, but let's go with the myth for a while.

He put them in a perfect garden full of leeks, cucumbers, wildebeest, earthworms, sparrows, apples, and such.  But in the middle, he put a tree of ultimate delight.  It would be much like surrounding a four year old with vegetables, and showing her a cookie and saying "eatest thou not of the cookie, for surely you shall grow up".

And the penalty for eating the cookie is everlasting pain and suffering, because of the evil Adam and Eve committed, unknowing as they were of either temptation or evil.  And god was the tempter.

Not sufficient to torment the innocent people who the Almighty tempted, but all their progeny for all time.  Thus was caused the immoral and insufferable concept of Original Sin, even though there was really no

Adam and Eve in the flesh, it being an ancient myth.

For a hundred thousand years, after god unsuccessfully tried to kill off mankind with a Flood for which there is no evidence, god watched, with insouciance, as those created in his image suffered every privation and pain imaginable.  Then, about 2000 years ago, he decided to offer redemption to them for his sins against mankind.  He sent a man to the most illiterate, backwards part of the Roman Empire with vague messages and an impossibly poor morality to give humankind an out from his malicious will.  This man created Hell, the most immoral and hateful concept ever conceived by the human mind.

In order to avoid Hell, one must accept many premises in the absence of evidence.  Yes, it's absurd, but that is the deal.  One of those premises is that a particular human sacrifice was a successful supplication to a bloodthirsty god on behalf of those few who heard about it and who believed an unbelievable story about it.  It wasn't even much of a sacrifice, as the sacrificed ostensibly knew he would arise two days later to become God.  Thousands of people were so tortured to death with no such guarantee.

This story is not simply unbelievable, but it is so absurd that to believe in it is to demonstrate a mental and/or emotion failure that disqualifies one from the advancement of the human species.

Hi all,

And, that, my Friends -- is Deep's "Religion of Nothing" of which I speak in my discussion titled "Nothing Comes To Forumland -- To Explain Uno's Dichotomy!"  In that discussion, you will get a much better idea of where Deep has derived his atheist Religion of Nothing -- and the fact that one day, when we Christians are Raptured -- Deep will truly have his world which is dominated by the Religion of Nothing -- all atheist, secularists, and vanilla-flavored non-believers.  Yes, sir, there will be a hot time in the old town then -- and for all eternity!!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Being superstitious is a logical fault, not an asset.

Superstitious, preachy freaks have never accomplished anything other than bilking gullible people out of their money..  It's the only thing they're good at.

Smart people have sent a man to the moon....

If not for the Dark Ages, we might have been on the moon in 750 CE.  To this day, the religious decry vaccinations against HPV because it thwarts god's will with regard to extra-marital sex.  Religion is absurd and destructive, and there will be as many of these posts as necessary to get that point across.  From now on, and I am only one of millions who will make them.

It is what I enjoy, Ron, thanks.  I agree with you that the superstition that is religion is indefinite in its prognosis, but so is malaria.  The better among us fight the good fight despite the odds.

Hi Deep,

If you like, and search the internet diligently -- or even watch television -- you can find many who wear the cloak of clergy, who will claim to be pastors and priest -- who will tell you anytbing YOU want to hear.   Why?  Because these men either strongly lack knowledge of God's Word -- or they are so eager to gain the praise of the world -- that they will say anything the world wants to hear.

Yes, you can find clergy who will deny God, who, like this man will deny the Bible, who will deny Jesus Christ -- and who will deny anything the Bible teaches -- to gain material wealth or the praise of a Godless society.

So, congratulations, Deep!  You found another misled man.  I assure you the world is full of them; just as there are many lost, misled atheist and other non-believers.

It boils down to:  you can believe God -- or you can believe the world.   I have chosen to believe God; you have chosen to believe the world.   I win!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Yawn... well if that's what you enjoy more power to ya. And for the record the only decrying of HPV vaccination that made waves was when Texas sought to force it on girls and as I remember some of those long haired civil liberty types joined in.

No I'm actually a supporter of vaccinations. My understanding was HPV wasn't considered communicable such as measles et al. Are you suggesting only religious folk oppose vaccination? We both know that's not so. Lots of psuedoscience out there and some atheist such as Bill Mahrer promote it.

NSNS my point in my original reply was that we have continuous threads saying religion is a fairy tale, prove there is a God blah blah blah. Only to be answered by you're going to hell blah blah blah. Looks like a dog chasing its tail to me. Have a good day.
