I know some folks are against using the word "Christmas" and want to replace Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays... I don't have a problem with that as long as they don't object to me still using Merry Christmas... and what are the calendar makers going to do about December 25 on calendars? Are they going to replace the words "Christmas Day" with "Holiday Day"?....
IMO, Christmas is what we make of it in our own hearts. The commercialization? I just focus on rising above it for my own sake and peace of mind.

My biggest objection to Christmas is how just a few days before Christmas, when the season should be at it's pinnacle, the stores are already stripping down all the Christmas stuff and putting out Spring clothing, etc.
By the time Christmas eve/day rolls around, the stores have already rushed Jesus out the door.... like a guest that has overstayed his welcome.
I ride the bus and walk in NYC to see the Rockefeller Tree and the store windows. In light of this discussion one of the most breathtakingly beautiful things I have ever seen is the Baroque creche and tree at the Met. This will be my only paid admission in the city. They do have other pictures too LOL! I can spend a week in NYC spending no amusement cash at all. I'm off Thurs Am for my Christmas treat! ( I did think about a repeat trip to the NYC Rockettes- but not for $200 a seat! The performance in Nashville is great!)

I've felt this way for at least the last 6 or 7 years. Christmas has become a commercialized joke. I'm always happy when it's over.

We wanna see pics!!!
I love Christmas. My kid's get to make goodies for several of the elderly at our church and the mean ol man next door! Smiler I do believe it has become a little commercialized but as long as your heart is in the right place and you give back to the community and those less fortunate... I think it is ok. Well, We do celebreate Christmas at my house with Advent, church services, devotions, and little stories about what different things mean and how you can correlate it with Christmas and Jesus. My children always make Jesus a birthday cake, or muffin, or pancake on Christmas night. Smiler They know the real reson for the season. Smiler

Went to Nashville and had a great time seeing the Rockettes perform. The hotel is beautiful during the holidays. Nice weekend trip.
